Would anyone like to do some quilting. For some reason I offered to quilt a colleagues first quilt for her grandson, she normally makes bags.

I must be a soft touch, the quilt is lovely four patch 5 in squares and white sashing. Trouble is they are all out and some don't have a seam allowance so are coming unravelled. The batting looked as though it's been dragged over a garage floor and is about an inch or more thick

I got it layered at our quilt group and am now wrestling it into my little machine. It's a big single size! Just remind me next time to find out more before I offer

Good luck with that Wendy!

I had a thought today about the CW quilts we will be making - for those of us who have not done so yet. It might be a good idea to make the hanging sleeve in a spare few moments before the actual quilt is upon us. The maximum size of the quilt is 40" so we could make it that size and then cut it down if necessary. It would be one less thing to have to do when the time comes. Just a suggestion.

Wendy have you any bread left, I have just run out!

So what you all up to? It's a bank holiday here in Ireland this weekend. (Not that our bankers deserve a holiday, IMHO!) I am doing a little work on my hexie quilt. Boy am I regretting doing these hexies so small! It feels like I will never get to the end of this one.

Now he is rebuilding the back porch ...will be nice when done...not too much sewing, tho.....

     I know what you mean. Love having DH home, specially under the circumstances but, when life is "normal" it seems to always cut back quilting time, except if there's a deadline. I always try to have a long enough "honey do list" to keep him entertained/occupied so I can have my sewing time.

Bread coming over Rita by TQS airways, enjoy. It's made with Middlings flour from a mill found on our womblings yesterday.

I've been walking the hills with the old man and playing with the chickens, still trying to get the wretched monster quilt done so I can get on with some other projects but like you lot, not a lot of sewing time this time of year.

Rebuilding the back porch sounds like you'll keep your DH busy for quite a long time Marilyn as long as you are not the 'fetch me carry me'

Wendy, I would love to see the monster quilt when you are done. I am sure it can't be easy to do. Middlings flour sounds interesting. Is that the brand or is it the middlings of the flour? Is it a wholewheat type of flour?

Marilyn, I hope the porch gets built quickly so that you can get back to the important work.

As long as it isn't 'midden' flour you should be all right

Catching up on Monday, had a great weekend (we even had some sunshine!), went canoeing at the pond (where we are learning) on Sat. morning, and then went on our first river trip yesterday with the club, 2 miles from Kirkham Abby to Howsham Weir on the river Derwent. It was glorious once we got on the water - it was a bit interesting & hard work getting the boats down to the water, but fortunately there were lots of extra bodies & taller men to help shift them  . DH, Izzy & I were in one about 17' long; there was a mix of canadian canoes (open top) and kayaks, about 20 people in all. The down side is that my shoulders are aching something rotten this morning.

I had a major sort & tidy of the computer desk last friday, which DH is very pleased about - the down side is that my sewing table has disappeared under piles of books & 'stuff' that need a proper home finding for it   However my little Myriorama pieces have finally been returned from 'Stitch' magazine (they have been gone 2 years  ), so I can start planning on putting those up at last.

Sounds like a fabulous trip and the weather has been kind for a change.

So are these myriorama stitched cards? Sorry those of you have already asked this question
