Is it okay to panic while smiling? Because that's what I'm doing... thanks for all the encouragement--I can use it!

Thanks, Lois! I'm actually excited as I'm thinking through my little strategic plan before the quilt arrives. But somewhere in the flood of thoughts that came into my mind was that time will fly and soon it will be yours! Thanks for the good wishes! I really did not get to clean my sewing room because I thought the quilt was coming closer to the end of May. I was wrong! Oh well...

Kind of like having company come over - it gives an incentive to clean the house! A visiting quilt = need to clean the quilt room!
Therefore, I have a good excuse for the state of my sewing room. No visiting quilts!

So THAT was my problem all these years! Terrie, thanks for setting me straight! :?

I have finished my first big quilt this year. Boy am I glad that's done. I really like the mussel shell border design but it takes forever and uses a mountain of thread. I used 2 full bobbins on each border. Each block has a different design. All very 'organic' and not very perfect but I doubt my niece will be complaining. It's for her 21st birthday which is on the 28th of this month. I can't believe I got this done ahead of time. Now back to my reels quilt and the BOM. Happy quilting everybody.

Rita, what a fun quilt--lucky niece! Was there any part of the quilt-top that you marked for quilting or is all of it done unmarked? I really enjoyed looking at the different blocks and what you chose as quilting design. Since you're using so much thread, is it time to graduate to cones? Really wonderful job--so glad to see this one! :P

Rita, your quilt is FANTASTIC! The bright color palate is perfect for a 21-year-old. There is a boatload of quilting on it! I especially like the teardrop shapes in the borders. Was your machine smokin' when you finished?!

Oh, and DOUBLE congratulations on having early completion!!!
