I have finished piecing my SOTT/BRU Exchange quilt!! I cropped and edited it a bit in Photoshop Elements but I cut off the very last edges a tiny bit. It finished at 60" square and has 900 patches in it. I have named it "Stars Around the World" in honor of all the TQS Quilting Stars that we all are!!!

My first thoughts for quilting was just to do an overall on it... BUT, now that it is finished, I see that it really deserves some awesome custom quilting... lots of feathers in the neutrals and continuous curves in the dark triangles. I had to schedule it in my calendar... the only open spot left this year is the end of November!!

I am planning on getting better pictures for the Sept 1st deadline... Still need to buy some better lights and a tripod.

I am totally amazed at how wonderful everyone's quilt is! Who knew so many creative quilts could be made out of a base of HST's??!!!! Thank you to everyone who shared a tiny piece of themselves! We really are shining stars around the world!!

Dear SoTT’S,
I have been off track, doing other small projects. Wish I had known about the Sept 1st deadline-too late to make it now but will try to make it for January.
Everyone’s projects are just sew beautiful!  I just love all of the designs & use of color. I am trying to do the Medallion Quilt our of Edyta’s book. I think I will have enough left over to do the Life Tree also. Too bad we couldn’t have a booth with all our quilts displayed in Houston and show to get fabric exchanges started, etc. You guys are certainly the experts with what you got done during the exchange! It was such a great group
I am doing Syta’s Medallion Quilt & it makes me dizzy sometimes trying to move HST’s/colors around and the like. Anybody have any secrets or words of wisdom?
First mistake is I don’t have a Design wall so it is spread out all over the top of our guest bed ; then I start moving HST’s around to see what it looks like. I sure would like to get it done if only my DH & my four dogs would help out. My longhaired Chihuahua has been diagnosed with myastyenis Gravis (sp). We had to take him to a Charleston specialist while they kept him in ICU for a couple of days.
What a challenge his treatment is but we just love him so much we have to try to save him. The rest of the family, humans & canines would be devastated!
Well hopefully I can get a second panel done tomorow and post it to get some input on the color of the border.

Barbara in Bluffton    :P

Shirley, Michelle, and Annis,
Awesome! I love them all. I need to put borders on mine to beat the deadline. I am off to the fabric store today. Now I only need to get power back so I can sew them on. I am in Massachusetts and had hurricane Irene yesterday.
Barbara in Bluffton, I just picked up my HSTs randomly and sewed away. I did the Medallion with out a pattern and it is wrong but it still looks great. I just got the layout wrong.
Well wish me power so I can beat the deadline. Ohhhh! maybe a LQS will take pity on me and let me sew. I will have to look pitiful.

karen - if you don't make the september 1st deadline for the prototype - you can still make the january 1st 2012 deadline for the definite book...
don't fret - have fun
ps. glad you made it well through irene - hope all others did likewise
we're thinking of you all and crossing fingers / holding thumbs and whatever else is there to wish you luck through this storm and its aftermath

Barbara, I'm an animal lover and just want to say I'm saying some prayers for your longhair chihuahua. Our animal buddies give us so much unconditional love and it sounds like you are doing the same for him. Take care and God bless all of you.
