I've finished my HST top. I'm pretty sure it is flat but the flannel tablecloth design wall isn't quite large enough to hang it very well. There is a HandiQuilter Educator coming to Bismarck in November for longarm classes and I can bring one top for design ideas so I will take this one. If anyone has design ideas or suggestions for a name for my quilt please let me know. I thought some feather thing in the outside green portion but that's as far as I've gotten. Hope everyone is busy working on their HST projects. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on this project and Carol and crew for working on the book. The biggest complement to them would be to get our projects finished.
We weaned some calves last night and it's been quite a symphony of sorrowful bellering today that will continue for the next week or so until we're done and the mamas give up and walk away.

Teresa, I have no idea how densely you want to quilt this, but if you want feathers, here is a LARGE feather motif that would fill the space nicely. If you want more dense quilting, just sub-divide each space and fill each space with smaller elements!
I love the colors you have added with your HSTs and can't wait to see this finished! Good job!

I opened the photo in MS Paint and used the "pencil" tool to draw the feathers. It is difficult to draw with a mouse, so I use the stylus that came with my Wacom Bamboo Tablet so it's more like drawing with a pencil.
Mine came with PhotoShop Elements software, which is really great, but for quick things like this, MS Paint works just fine, and most PCs can do this by drawing with a mouse.
Check out my tablet here: http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Bamboo-P.../dp/B002OOWC3S
Here is a review of the product: http://www.mactrast.com/2011/03/revi...boo-pen-touch/
I am probably only using about 10% of the functions of the tablet, but it works great for drawing quilting motifs to try on a photo!

Teresa, Love your quilt especially the colors you've added to our HST's. I love how Margo continues to help us with quilting suggestions in ways that challenge us to learn more about the technology that helps us do our work. Also love hearing about the calves being weaned. I love having a sense of what is going on in my fellow quilters' lives. Although I am sure that the calves crying for their mothers gets a little old when you are right there its kind of nice to imagine what that might sound like and know how very different your life is than my own. The thing that's the same is our love of quilting. Thanks for sharing a bit of life on the ranch along with the progress you are making on that wonderful quilt. Lois

Teresa, this is lovely. Margo, great feather for this quilt.
I've had some improved mobility in the last couple weeks so going to try this weekend to put up foam insulation boards glued to my garage drywall to have a wall like Patsy Thompson showed to spray baste my quilts. I hope I can manage this. I had to laugh at the poor guy at Home Depot yesterday trying to get the 2 4'x8' sheets into my van. I finally asked him if he could cut them in half, thinking I would get 4 sheets at 4x4. I stayed in the car because my chair was already loaded in it. He came back with 4 sheets at 2'x8' lol!!
