look through this forum thread. There are others that have put there pictures here and also under the thread of the Sottts. I am sure Margo can be more specific.

Joan , I love your mountain top blocks, did you audition the HST's or just put them where they fell? I also just found my back round fabric. I start my summer sewing teacher gig this week I hope to work on a block each day during my break time. Hopefully I will have something to post soon.

Basically just as they came from the bag, but I set them out and if there was two colours that I didn't like I would change him out. I was only careful with one section it wasn't as crucial with the other sections in the block because of the sashing in between.

Joan, your blocks are wonderful! Every time I see someone's blocks, I get excited and think maybe THAT's the one I want to do. Having lived in the Rockies for many years, both in Colorado and here in Montana, this block would be perfect! Hmmmm....we'll see!

Oh, how wide did you cut the sashings?

Sashing is 2 inches I just noticed I have two upside down I am going to have to take that out it will drive me crazy. If I had already sewn the blocks together I would let it go but this early I can't leave it. Joan

Thanks, Joan! I did find find the red upside down one, but no others. I guess that is something I'll have to pay attention to when I finally get to sew mine. Like you, it would bug me! But, while really looking at yours, I think I spotted one of mine. Fun!

Well, I was all set to post a photo of my partial quilt. BUT, I wasn't really happy with the two fabrics I had picked out to go in the blocks, and finally decided to take apart the 13 blocks I already made  . When I looked at the photo of Edyta's quilt in her triangle book, I realized that the colors in her quilt were much more muted. The HST's I have are shouting loud and having fun. So it's back to the drawing board. Only 4 more blocks to disassemble now! At least I listened to that little voice telling me, this isn't working !

                          oh kathy :?
but it's better to undo and change now - if you hear that little voice and don't act to it now - you would probably regret it every time you look at the quilt
lookig forward to what you'll end up with
have fun with the reassembling

Oh Kathy! I hate when that happens!! Before you sew more together, you might want to "audition" other setting fabrics. Lay out some of your HSTs on top of a large piece of possible background and take a picture of it. Try the same thing with several possible fabrics, and take pictures. After you view the photos together, it will probably be easier to make a choice that you will be happy with. There is something about viewing the block from a distance that seems to help. You can also achieve the same results by using a reducing glass (the opposite of a magnifying glass) or an inexpensive "peep-hole" from the hardware store. Those are the little window inserts that you install in a solid door to peep out and see who's knocking! I use one all the time, and keep it close by my design wall, hanging on a ribbon so I don't loose it!

I spent a couple of hours yesterday playing with different background fabrics, I must have had 10 fabrics up there! I took pics with the digital camera because I know that spotlights what works pretty quickly. Light, dark, bright, dull, whatever- it just didn't work. I was working on the Mosaic quilt in Edyta's book. It has pinwheels surrounded by 2 inch strips, to make an 8 inch block, and the alternate block is a 4 inch square surrounded by HST's. The fabric I was using for the 4 inch square is a light warm pink that wasn't right for the HST, so I would have had to take them apart anyway. After playing with possible backgrounds for the 2 inch strips, I played in EQ and couldn't get anywhere either. I've got another idea in EQ that may rein in the riot of color and brightness. They are all taken apart now, so at least that's done! I appreciate the sympathy. This whole thing was a good learning opportunity!

                                Way-hey!

I've managed to get started on stitching my Bats-R-US together, which will form the centre of the whole exchanges quilt. I had to add in some hst's from the Sottts collection, but kept my selection to only batiks only for consistancy for this part, using the Friendship Chain block.

For all those who like trying to find their squares I've made it easier for you as your name is next to your hst (or on point contact - depending on its location in the 9-patch)
