I have pressed all my lovely hst open. I wanted to see if I could discover a connection to fabrics and the region of the USA they came from. I laid hst out in a map. Top right Alex, Edyta, Margo, and Ricky - the rest of top row is Foreign hst. Next row are specials from Debbie and the 3rd row are mine. 4th row Alaska and Canada. Anonymous are sprinkled in those four rows. The bottom row are all anonymous as well. From left to right - Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, I discovered a few things. Blues were on the Eastcoast, I think for the shore. Colorado had blues and purples - blue skies and purple mountains. Nothing else gave me a region clue. As far as fabrics one pink hst triangle with a batik kitty head, is the same design I used for cornerstones in my very first quilt. A few of the batiks I may have been seen before - everything else is totally new to me. I had no duplicate fabrics except when from the same person.
Now I will let it talk to me over the next couple weeks while I make some golden velvet pouches for a crafts fair I will be doing soon. Thank you all for all your work and love and especially to Debbie, Clara and all the sorters.

Dear Katie & SoTTT’s
I was wondering if the fabrics would be different from different places in the USA & countries. Kinda like clothes too. In the South on the shore our clothes & interior design’s in our homes are so different that even the northern part of SC where it is more hilly (they call it more mountains, but if you have been to NC, Colorado, etc, that is kinda funny). And what you have shown with your quilt is very interesting! Thanks for sharing. Spoken & illustrated like a true artist!!

Dear SoTTT’s;
You guys are amazing!! I can’t even watch TV anymore (which is fine with me) in order to try to keep up with you all!! The SoTTT’s did potholders & the Batik strippers in addition to the HST exchange?? How do you guys keep everything straight? I would have driven Debbie & Claire nuts! I probably would have sent the pot holders to the Stripper & the HST’s to the Pot Holders and the Strippers to Claire & Debbie!! As if they didn’t have enough to deal with!! I am dizzy thinking about it!!
Whooo Hoo! to all of you too!! The post holders (shows you how much I cook since the kids are gone!) pot holders are sew cute! Love the samples people are doing with the HST’s! I just wanna sit down & have a skinny girl margarita but I don’t really know what that is & I don’t really drink !!

Whoo Hoo? Not in on this yet, but our guild is hosting a seminar in July. I can hardly wait!! So how many of us have been to a Tims seminar??
There is a partner just waiting for someone to swap with! If you are interested, the deadline to sign-up is not until May 1.
Just send me an e-mail at
mailto:tqs.potholderswap@gmail.com
A friend & I traveled from Georgia to Glens Falls, NY for The Seminar (Ricky, Justin, Alex, John & Libby Lehman!) a few years ago.
It was fantastic! And we've put our guild on the list for the lottery & hope to be chosen for one in Atlanta in 2013!
Try to go to one if you can, you'll love it!

Originally posted by sugarmuffin57I worked on pressing my HSTs yesterday and brought the pressed ones down to work on tearing the papers while I watched TV last night. Well my shoulders started to tense us so I was putting them aside when I noticed my husband looking over at them with an interested look on his face. I said I was tired and jokingly asked if he wanted to work on them. Guess what?! He said "yes, I was going to ask if you wanted help." Wow! He sat and removed the paper from the rest. He stopped a couple of times and remarked on ones that he really liked.
I would have loved to take a picture and post but he said NO.
Our husbands are more interested than we realize.
Love your story, my husband actually got into helping me sort and categorize mine and has watched my method of documenting them. I don't think the pressing is for him but maybe he will be a helper when I get ready to tear paper and begin the design wall process.
It is amazing to see he intrest of others in our fun!

I attended the Ricky Tim's Seminar This past fall on Cape Cod during a threat from a hurricane. The hurricane fizzled out but the Seminar was spectacular. Ricky has us say "Woo Hoo" during the seminar. Everyone should go if it comes to their area.
