My husband plans our own 'shop hop' once we reach our resort. We stayed in Daytona this time. Great beach and water. Just loved it! It took 2 hours to get caught up with all the forum posts. Exited so many of you have received your HST. I hope mine arrive tomorrow. I'm so excited!!!
My bio. I'm the mother of 4 sons (lost our first as a newborn) and Grandmother of a 3 1/2 year old Grandson and 6 year old granddaughter. My husband and I have been retired from our day jobs for 3 years. We took early retirement at 55. However, we are both in the Canadian Air Force (part of the reserves) and work with youth aged 12 to 18. I'm the Commanding Officer of our Air Cadet Squadron. Greg is my Training Officer. As a child I lived in Germany for 4 years because my father (Air Force) was transferred there. We traveled a bit while in Germany. I've been quilting about 10 years. I'm almost finished my term as president of the Waterloo County Quilters Guild. It's been fun. Doreen (Delizabeth)
Let me know when you will be in sunny FL again! We can explore quilt shops in Central FL or meet for lunch. I am going to be retired in just a few weeks and am really looking forward to more quilting time! Shirley & I plan to meet when she is in FL in May.
Maryjo
That would be so much fun! We may go again in the fall.

Hi all, Phew, it is now 11.30am and I have been reading all 39 pages of the forum since 8am when I came into the office and sat down with my breakfast in hand to catch up as I have been away for a week. When I left I hadn't opened up the Chapter 3 - what a mistake, so much to catch up on and what a blast reading it all, I have laughed out loud (DH came over to see what I was laughing at, shook his head and went away to do the breakfast dishes). I have had a few tears as well, said a few prayers and thank yous to other Aussie sisters for answering the OZ questions.
Anzac Day is a very special day for all Aussies and New Zealanders. November 11th is also called Remembrance Day here and everything stops at the 11th minute of the 11th hour - tellers stop, checkouts stop and people are reminded to stop doing whatever for a full minute of silence to remember the fallen in all wars.
I have finished the top of a hst quilt - first one made for the Bris flood/North Queensland cyclone victims, I started making this early in the year with all the offcuts from a purples quilt I did a few years ago. I will upload a photo later when I learn how to do it.
All my friends have nearly finished their hst's and I have sorted them into piles ready for our sewing days. Jenny has taken all the ones with red in them and has started working on one. I am waiting for the hst's from US to come before I book the hall for the sewing days.
I have already got the names of some of the recipients of the quilts but as I don't know how many we will be making I have not gone any further with that.
Thank you to all involved in the Sottt exhcnage, I am thoroughly enjoying the forum and look forward to reading it when I can, really looking forward to receiving my packages though no doubt will have to wait a bit yet.
I have a friend who is visiting the US at the moment to go to Paducah so I am looking forward to seeing all her photos and stuff she brings home.
Cheers to all,

They came on Friday!!! I looked at (and drooled over) every one of them, but then forced myself to put them in a basket until I finish binding the quilt I am making for my great-niece. Thanks so much to all of you for your efforts ~ you made something really spectacular happen!

   Imagine an overly-excited Daffy Duck doing a Happy Dance and that's me this afternoon when I got my HST package :!:    They're already sorted into 44 USA states and 8 other countries...and the variety is unbelieveable :!: I also love my Golden Tickets from Alex, Ricky, Edyta, Margo, and Clara...but didn't find one from our special Debbie Wolf. There were 37 unsigned HST's so I will have to imagine which one would be from our special lady! I'm going thru the previous posts and noting the names of some SoTTT sisters who didn't label their HST's and will imagine which ones they sent too!
I can't say THANK YOU enough to Debbie, Clara, and everyone else who helped to make this SoTTT exchange a HUGE success :!:    I liked Margo's vision in an earlier post about all of us standing up and making a giant wave of applause!
And...thank you to all our SoTTT sisters (sadly  I didn't find any labeled from our brothers, except for Ricky's) for making your beautiful HST's. Every one of them will be scanned and recorded in my computer before I play with them for a quilt :!:
Thank you, Debbie, for posting the page that had the countries listed. I'm going to print it and put it with my scanned HST's.
Hugs to all of you,
Shirley Forster

I haven't posted in a while but have (I think/hope) kept up with most of the posts. I've had out-of-town company and 25+ people over the course of the weekend, and I am full and tired. I really enjoy this exchange and the pictures and lessons from Margo. I have been known to stay up late to catch up on the news... Don't know what happened, but I had written one or two posts and they 'disappeared" One was almost epic in nature - oh well, it may have bored you . I hope this one shows up. I have been thinking about trying to post up a real picture of myself, instead of my beloved pin cushion. But I love yellow, and it was a dear gift from a fellow quilter. Still waiting from mine, but from the Batiks exchange, I imagine I will not get them too early. Canada customs seems to be s-l-o-w. Meanwhile, I have pressed open all my batiks, and thinking about whether I should wait for the next batch and join them, or do something with just the Batiks R Us lot. I have almost enough to make a tree of life quilt with the HSTs, or a mini medallion quilt, like the cover of Edyta's book. I am still thankful for this exchange, and the ladies who organized ans sorted --> SO much. The photos are so inspirational. I hope this post goes up. Just wanted to let the sisterhood know I haven't smothered in all those HSTs that I've received or made. I can't imagine the feeling of the sort day!

I am so excited!!! I have finally been able to sort through all my HSTs from the 2 exchanges, and guess what!!! Of the ones which were signed with a name and location, I have 329 different individuals, 45 states and 8 countries represented!!!! WOW!!! Now, here's a challenge....I'd like to get representation from those 5 'missing' states: Arkansas, Hawaii, Delaware, Rhode Island, and Oklahoma. Were there any participants from those states? If so, may I send you a SASE and a HST so that I can receive a HST from you representing your state?
Thanks!
