I suggest that you print out the directions and follow them one step at a time. And for what it's worth, it took most of us a couple of tries to get it right!

Now if we average those numbers out, we are looking at a total just a smidge under 250,000 HSTs!

Dear SoTTT;
I will be going to my local ARC Chapter Monday morning to see if I will be headed out to Japan to assist with the relief and/or recovery effort. Although Japan is better prepared and has a larger ARC than the USA does; we may just end up providing support from the states with establishing communication & filling supply orders. It will be going on for some time so they will be spreading us out. If I do go over I plan on taking lots of scrap material & teaching or getting recovery victims to quilt to pass the time. Hopefully, I would go where there is some electricity and my computer would work so I would be able to communicate. My husband is at work (Fire Dept) and it looks like his first responder’s crew are packing up & getting ready to ship out to mainland Japan but they don’t know where they will end up. We have three military bases close by but haven’t heard if any of them are shipping out yet. I am glad to hear that our So TTT sister’s nephew is okay. My niece is out on the CA coast & works in the field of geology (she is working on her Masters degree) though we haven’t heard from her we feel confident she is safe as this is her field & believe she is just so busy with her job monitoring for shock waves, reporting instrument findings on their faults & responding to everything that is going on that she has been unable to call anyone. So much going on isn’t there? The only way to keep things sane in the world is to QUILT! Everyone stay safe!
Like Debbie said, we really are blessed, aren’t we? Barbara

Finally, pressed, sewn, pressed again and cut apart. Labeled and packaged with screen name in 3 places and 700 (!) written also. They will go out on Monday and I will email that I have mailed them. I have followed this with a great deal of interest and enjoyment. Thank you so much for your efforts on our part!Janet P.

Barbara,
We wish you all the best especially if you are headed to Japan or even if you will be assisting Stateside. It will certainly be a monumental task just to achieve a small semblance of normalancy for the country. Our prayers go out to your and your husband and we wish you both safe travels and extreme safety once you arrive there. Hopefully you will have computer access and that you will keep us informed when you have time.
Hopefully there will be no strong aftershocks and the rescue and recovery can continue without further delays.
God bless!

Dear SOTT's
Yesterday 3/11 was a terrible day for me as I saw the news about Japan. In 1981 we hosted an exchange student from there and she has been our daughter by love ever since, our 3, now adult children, are her brothers & sisters. She has 3 beautiful girls and her husbands company sent them back to Tokyo to live and work last summer after living & working in the US for over 20 years. The granddaughters, her 3 girls, were all born in US, one is attending GA Tech but all the rest live in Japan now. I love FB because it was the first & only info we got from the youngest daughter who was sleeping at her school due to no transport home. Then about 1pm Hiroko called us to say she was finally home when trains began to slowly rin again and her other daughter had walked for 2 1/2 hrs. from a bus, stranded and not moving, to their apartment. And finally last night we had a FB update to say the youngest Arisa had gotten home. As of this morning her husband who works several hours outside the city has finally made it home. We are so joyful that all are together and can keep each other safe. Some damage to theit home but they say it is minor.
Barbara and all the responders are to be thanked and we will keep you all in our prayers as many people now need your assistance. God bless you and keep you safe in the palm of His Hand. We live in a global community where we all need to watch out for and support each other. Maryjo (josew)

I live in Southern Oregon. I have not heard of any human tragedy. Santa Cruz and Crescent City, CA had great harbor and boat damage. In Creacent City the water left the harbor then came back in and totalled the boats. I feel for the fisherman who already struggle. I then wondered how an event like this effects the fish. We are blessed and we can quilt.

BIG REMINDER   !!!
Monday, March 14- 349 Packages received containing 139,734 HST's... and 16 are International
DEADLINE TO RECEIVE ALL PACKAGES IS APRIL 1ST, LESS THAN THREE WEEKS AWAY.
RIGHT NOW I ONLY HAVE 38 EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS THAT I AM WAITING TO RECEIVE PACKAGES FOR. AT THIS RATE, WE WILL NOT HAVE NEARLY AS MANY PARTICIPANTS AS ANTICIPATED. IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU GET YOUR PACKAGES IN THE MAIL RIGHT AWAY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE INTERNATIONAL, IN ORDER TO MEET THE APRIL 1ST DEADLINE. PLEASE CONSIDER SENDING THOSE INTERNATIONAL PACKAGES AIR MAIL OR SOME OTHER FORM OF 'FAST' DELIVERY SINCE MANY PACKAGES ARE TAKING OVER TWO WEEKS TO ARRIVE STATESIDE.
DON'T FORGET TO SEND ME AN EMAIL WHEN YOU DO AND BE SURE TO LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE THE U.S. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM MANY MORE OF YOU VERY, VERY SOON.
IF YOU ARE IN THE U.S., IT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL TO US IF YOU COULD GET YOURS MAILED THIS WEEK.

I'm sad to say, I heard there was one death from the tsunami in Ca. A young Indian man of 25 was washed to sea when the water came up the Klamath River. He had been living in Bend, Or. He'd been sober for a couple of years and his Grandma had given him her house. He had been on the reservation just two weeks when tragedy came. He is the first west coast tsunami death since 1964.
