THIS POST IS ALSO GETTING REPEATED AGAIN...ESPECIALLY THE PART ABOUT THE SMOKE-FILLED HSTs
    Dear, dear SoTTTs Members,

Except for receiving Rosemary's incredible gift package, today was definitely not a good day for receiving HST packages and I'd like to bring a few items to your attention before you mail you package. I received 29 packages today and it has taken me well over five hours to go through them all because I had so many problems to resolve and figure out. This is actually the first time I've encountered so many issues which is something to be said since I've now received 423 packages.

    1) Please read and follow   the Checklist posted directly before this one...if you do, that should resolve most issues. I've been reposting the checklist every couple of days and will continue to do so until a couple of days before the deadline when they should have all been mailed.

    2) Please do not send more than 700 HSTs...the probability is extremely high that you will receive many of your own back. We do not have that many members even sending in 700, and definitely only a very, very few who have sent more than that.

    3) Please provide a TOTAL count of your HTS's (it doesn't count if you told me in your notification email because I'm not referring to that when I open your package!) Today I received several packages that did not provide a total count and one was a package of 700 HSTs. The HSTs had been put into individual baggies ranging from 14 to 56 in each bag, but nowhere on the envelope or in the package was the total count provided. At least the individual baggies had numbers  on them. I had to start adding up all the various baggies to figure out how many had been sent.

    4) Please do not put your HSTs in individual baggies. Those HSTs have to be removed from the individual baggies and incorporated into one large bag as soon as I receive them and before the sorting process.

    5) Please do not press open your HST's...in the last week, I received four packages with them all pressed open.

    6) Please cut your HST's apart. In one package today, they have not been cut.

    7) If you are International, please include a copy of your PayPal receipt and make sure that you have charged a sufficient amount of postage for your return package. Include your mailing label too...and no return envelope.

    8) If you want to know when your package arrives, be sure to send me an email through My Profile page and not as a Private Message.

    9) Now for the topper...this is a very sensitive area to discuss and I don't feel comfortable bringing it up at all, but I do feel that it now needs to be addressed because it happened with two packages today and one other several weeks ago:

If you are a smoker or someone in your home is a smoker, please do something to air our your HSTs thoroughly before they are mailed. I cannot in good conscience insert these smoke-filled HSTs into everyone else's return packages since it could permeate all the other HSTs and it could cause problems for people who may be allergic or have breathing problems. The first package I received a few weeks ago contained 700 very strong smoke-filled HTS. I put them in a couple of lingerie bags and let them air outside for a couple of days. When that wasn't successful enough, I then sprayed them with Febreeze and let them continue to air outside. That helped a little, but I still had to put them in my clothes dryer with fabric sheets to try to help more. The Febreeze and dryer caused the HST paper to roll, which mean I had to then start pressing someone else's 700 HSTs. And today, I have to go through the entire process all over again.

Thanks for your kind words, Karen. We certainly will have learned a lot between the three exchanges....Clara, Ritzy, Barb, Margo and I should be able to write a pretty interesting book  !

I'd love to see the exchanges continue through the Forum because I think it has been a wonderful way to make new friends. I've had so much wonderful correspondence with many of our International members that I feel like I've known them for years. And I sincerely hope that a lot of us are able to get together at Quilt Festival in Houston like TQS did last year. Hopefully this Chapter 2 - SoTTT's Forum can continue for a long, long time after the HSTs are returned and projects are completed .

Well, I have had to admit defeat. No triangles from me. I have struggled with a nasty chest infection since November that has not responded to treatment and even though I'm now slowly getting better my energy levels are still zero. I very much look forward to see the results of the exchange!

That's a long time to be sick. I bet you are sick and tired of being sick and tired. Get better soon. At least you can soak up on all the energy of the forum. Clara

Well I want to say "Thanks" for what a great job you have done on hosting the forum and keeping up with all our emails. This is the first exchange like this I have done and can't wait to do another - I'm doing the strips too so I guess I don't have to wait long!

Now to wait for my envelope. I sent an email that my package was sent by priority mail today. Oops I forgot to say "Thanks" to everyone who assisting in the sort. I will be thinking of everyone and have a safe drive to and from the sort. Please share with us all the fun you will be having !

On April 3rd at our local Quilt Show my son will be one of the presenter at the Young Quilter Trunk Show. I am so proud of my son who started quilting 5 years ago.

I agree with this, But since Chapter 1 was 86 pages long does that mean that after another 20 pages will we be starting Chapter 3?

                        Hi Friends,
Some of you may have seen a couple of my posts about the Christchurch earthquake here in New Zealand and how my brother-in-laws' sister Jane has been missing in the rubble of the CTV building since the quake on Feb 22nd. Last week they found her body and she will be buried on Monday. she leaves a husband and 2 children behind, but at last they have closure and can continue to grieve and move on with their lives.
I can't wait to get my triangles back and see what I can do with them! Thanks ladies for doing so much work for this, I hope you choose the prettiest triangles for yourselves!! xx Sue

Oh Sue, my heart goes out to you, your family, your brother-in-laws family and of-course Jane's family. As you say, everyone has closure now but it doesn't make it any less heartbreaking.

My prayers are with you all especially her children who will now have to grow up without a mother. Mother Earth is beautiful most times but as we see around the world lately, she can be very very destructive. Here in the UK we cannot comprehend the total devastation of an earthquake.

                          Many Hugs

May the healing start for you and your family gracefully and peacefully. While I have no experience that even compares to an earthquake I can empathize on losing a loved one and the heartbreak of that moment. May some of the triangles with sparkles make their way to you. Oh, Sue. My thoughts and prayers go out to your brother, his children and your family. Maybe the quilt you are able to make them with all the donated HSTs you'll be receiving will help them in the healing process. The world has experienced so much tragedy these past few days, weeks, months and years that it sure does enable so many of us to put our own somewhat minor troubles into the proper perspective.

Good point, Rosemary! Chapter 3 is probably a good idea since there's no telling how many pages  we'll get to when the sorting  and returning is done  ! We'll have to see how many members what to continue this to 'infinity and beyond'...oh, no, did I really just use that term...how un 8) is that! My grandson would be horrified.
