I’ve also used open containers of vinegar to remove the offending odors in a closed room. Now there’s an idea. Two for one. Wash the finished quilt in vinegar to remove the smells and set dyes from bleeding.

I agree, Debbie - you are VERY gracious and have done so much and have gone the second mile at least twice , so pull up your boundries and remember that we all appreciate your efforts and are thankful. People should understand - this concept is not rocket science - and neither are your directions. Your patience seems unending.

Oh, my goodness......I agree with the above completely!! This latest in a long line of "issues" takes the cake and my suggestion
would be to swap the triangles among the three "smokers" ....although they probably didn't send in the same amount. Debbie,
you have my complete admiration and thanks for trying to "fix" the little beasties, but sometimes you need to say "enough" already

Debbie and Clara--you need more helpers! It took us 5 1/2 hours to sort our 16,000. It is going to take you a week to sort those.

If you are in the area and can help with their sorting---please volunteer.

With the lovely Ritzy updating us on her sorting day I have to admit that I've been reflecting on her news and have come to one conclusion.... to beg, plead, grovel and respectfully ask any quilters around the Houston area to plant themselves into a vehicle of their choice and come join us. Please. I'll have chocolate. Hey, I'm not above bribing. Clara
Seriously, if you can join us, just let me know. Thanks.

Have you considered getting a 4-H group together or maybe a group of high schoolers to fill the gaps for sorters? Maybe the church choir (who might also like to practice a few hymns while they work)?

I'm afraid to get too many people who don't really understand the process. If we can get local members, which we are doing, I think that will be our best bet. High schoolers would be great, but I don't think we'd be able to keep their interest too long  and the same goes with the younger kids!

Tell all helpers to bring their husbands, children, significant others. They can do the grunt work.
I would be there in a minute if I could. Once you get the gang all organized and assembly lined it will be fine I am sure. I have faith in you guys.

I just read all the posts about the smoking 1/2 square triangles. WOW! I agree with Susan, send them back with some miscellaneous extra triangles and say thanks. Debbie, you should be nominated for Sainthood for trying to air those puppies out! THANK YOU for doing that.

REPEATING YET AGAIN BECAUSE BASED ON SOME OF THE PACKAGES I'VE RECEIVED THE PAST THREE DAYS, SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT READING THIS SO I'LL CONTINUE TO TRY AND HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!!

ONLY ONE WEEK AND ONE DAY UNTIL THE FRIDAY, APRIL 1 DEADLINE...AND THE DEADLINE IS NOT AN APRIL FOOL'S JOKE  !!!!

THIS BEARS REPEATING AGAIN AND AGAIN EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVEN'T MAILED YOUR PACKAGES YET PLEASE USE THIS CHECKLIST AND IT WILL MAKE RECEIVING AND SORTING THE HST's SO MUCH EASIER ON EVERYONE INVOLVED!!!

ON TUESDAY, MARCH 22, I HAVE RECEIVED 427 PACKAGES CONTAINING 169,882 HSTs AND 43 OF THOSE ARE INTERNATIONAL...THAT MEANS THERE ARE STILL ABOUT 188 PACKAGES OUTSTANDING.

HERE'S A HELPFUL CHECKLIST TO USE BEFORE PACKAGING AND MAILING YOUR HSTs (which DO need to be received by FRIDAY, APRIL 1st (LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AWAY , so hopefully EVERYONE, especially members from outside the U.S. have mailed their packages or will air mail (International) them THIS WEEK!)

____ HST's folded & NOT pressed open and paper has NOT been removed. DO NOT SEND MORE THAN 700 HST'S.

____ HST's have NOT been put into individual baggies, but have been neatly stacked & placed in a larger Ziplock bag (or smaller if
not sending that many)...see photo below. Remember we have to remove HSTs from smaller bags before sort day, so you
do not need to separate them into colors or counts. Only the TOTAL count is what matters!

_____ If including HSTs for Queensland, Hanne or Christchurch, those have been put into individual bags & marked appropriately.

____ Screen Name, Real Name and HST count has been clearly marked on the Ziplock bag.

____ If International, contact Clara Lawrence (SN: ClaraLawrence) to get information on how to charge your return postage on PayPal.
Review the 2nd Post on the 1st Page of this Forum to determine how many & what size boxes are required depending on
how many HST's you will be having returned to you.

____ If International, include your address label or labels, depending on how many return boxes you paid for, along with
a copy of your PayPal receipt. Review the 2nd Post on the 1st Page of this Forum to determine how
many boxes are required depending on how many HST's you will be having returned to you. Do NOT include a
return envelope because it CANNOT be used. We aleady have all the International Flat Rate Boxes required to return them.

____ For Domestic packages: Return envelope has stamps, your OWN address as both 'sender' and 'recipient'. Remember not to use
P.O. Box addess as 'sender' since it will be closed after the Exchange. If your package is returned there for insufficient postage, it
may wind up in an unknown  , unhappy home forever. Also, if you are the 'sender', then it will get returned to YOU for
                                additional postage.

____ Mailing envelope is sturdy and is clearly marked with your ScreenName & HST count and it has been taped, taped & triple
taped to make sure it won't open on it's way to Katy.

____ Once package is mailed, send Debbie (SN: NaneeWolf) an email to her PROFILE PAGE (not as a PRIVATE MESSAGE
or Forum post) to let her know package is on the way. That way she can let you know by return email when your package arrives.

HURRY, HURRY, HURRY TO GET YOUR PACKAGES IN THE MAIL, ESPECIALLY INTERNATIONAL...APRIL 1ST DEADLINE IS FAST APPROACHING!
