Just have to tell you all that Edyta was our speaker at guild last night and I took a workshop from her today and absolutely had a blast and wish I could also take tomorrow's workshop, but alas have to work. She is as delightful in person as she is on The Quilt Show. I learned a ton and feel inspired to try some different things.

We are going to be planning the sort soon after the due date. If you are one of our international quilters especially in Australia and New Zealand try and get your packages into the mail system by the middle of March. Australia seems to be taking anywhere from 2-3 weeks and Europe about 1-2 weeks. We are still looking at a good month away for most of us to get done what we need to do.
Thanks. Clara
It is taking a while for the packages to get here from Australia. On Feb. 4, I received my first notification that a package had been mailed from New Zealand . Today is the 16th and it hasn't arrived yet...but hopefully soon!
We're almost at the 50K mark in receiving HSTs...49,076 in 138 packages...and we're not even 1/3 of the way there! Thanks for your generosity in including HSTs for Queensland and Norway, too. That 'stash' is starting to grow and I know that Louise and Hanne-Grete will really appreciate them
Bummer for me  ...since the HSTs are still folded, I can't see what most of the fabrics look like, but I can see there is a huge variety of prints, colors, and batiks. What's really fun  is that I CAN get a 'sneak peek' at one side of some of the batiks since they're double sided...and they are looking luscious!

I ordered the Tyvek envelopes Feb. 3rd and have not yet received them. I ordered botht the Express envelopes and the Priority envelopes and got a notification on Feb. 9th that the Express envelopes were on their way. Still waiting! So, if you haven't already sent your HSTs off, I would recommend going ahead and ordering those envelopes as you will be waiting on them.

If you can, it would also be a good idea to tape your envelope shut instead of relying on the 'sticky' that comes on some of them. One came in yesterday that had only a brad to close it and no 'sticky' substance or tape at all. Fortunately it didn't open up and lose the contents before it was delivered.

Debbie and Clara,
I’m preparing my HSTs for mailing today. I counted my HST twice before I started dividing them up for each of the exchanges and special groups. When I was done I recalculated my piles and found I was 8 short. I can’t imagine the frenzy of counting each of you will manage on SORTING DAY. I’m sending along 15 extra HSTs in a separate baggie to help in the final count. In the end I wouldn’t mind if you just grabbed a handful of HSTs and put them into a bag to send back to me and call it good. I get to participate in this wonderful exchange because of your work. Whatever I get back will be treasured. Thank you from the bottom of my HST piles.

Thanks for including the extras, Susan. Any extras that we wind up with after all is said and done will be included in the packages to Queensland and Hanne. Hopefully everyone counted correctly and everything will work perfectly 8) when it comes to distributing. Clara promises that she's going to keep the frenzy to a minimum, so everyone's HSTs shoudl be good in her capable hands.

I'm with you Susan! It's the spirit of this exchange that is the most exciting part! One big stirred up pile of HSTs is making more and more sense to me!! Hopefully Deb and Clara will have some back-up crew members for the big sorting day! Makes my head hurt just to think about it!!

Ohhh...that sounds like a fun kind of swap too. Maybe someone could start one of those up as a future exchange...I'm seeing beautiful batik hearts coming in from everywhere. Were they all paper pieced hearts?

We do have a wonderful back-up crew waiting in the wings! Several SoTTTs members who live in and around Houston have offered their help. Barb (Needleware), who is heading up the Sensational Strippers Exchange is in my Guild and she's also offered to help. And last, but not least, I am in the most incredible Bee. Even though they're not all doing the Exchange, they have all said they would help...and one of the ladies works at a church so she's going to reserve an activity room for us. They are all very special friends to me!
