And while I'm asking, I have an EQ question, maybe this is possible in 6 or maybe added in 7, but is there any way to have it randomly place colors, perhaps limited as "light, med. or dark" rather than have to pick every fabric for a scrappy look when designing?
Thanks,
Paint brush just colors one piece at a time.
Paint brush plus CTRL key, colors the selected piece in each block in the quilt. If you have more than one block pattern, it only colors the pieces in the block you're working on.
Spray can colors all of that color in your selected block.
Spray can plus CTRL kay, does this for the entire quilt in every block like the block you are working on.
The swap colors key replaces each instance of the color you click on in the quilt, with the selected color. It's different from spray can Plus CTRL because swap colors works for all blocks, borders, etc.
Random recolor just globally swaps one color for another. If there were two colors in the original quilt, there will still be only 2 colors
after random recolor. If there were 10 colors, there will be 10 new colors in the quilt after using it.
So, you could replace a color with a different value color within one block without clicking on each piece. To change on a piece by piece basis, you have to do it piece by piece, either when coloring blocks for the sketchbook, or when in the quilt.
Hopefully this answers your question without making things more confusing!

Oh gosh, I didn't explain it very well! So sorry you're nervous about EQ. Best thing to do is, pick two blocks from the block library, put them into the default quilt, and then click on the paintbrush, spray can, random recolor, etc and see what they do. The CTRL key applies your selection to the entire quilt. If you can navigate this forum, you can do EQ for sure. Just plunge in and see what happens.

Yes, I am about ready to tackle the signature line too.
Edyta's Mosaic quilt in her triangle book was the one I was planning on using for the HST's. I put it into EQ and put different backgrounds to see what the different colors would look like. It's so handy having a program like EQ to sketch out different ideas. What I found was, that almost any backgrounds would work for this quilt. Cool! I'm still working on March BOM applique, and won't get started on the HST project for a while yet .

Since I used scraps that I got from friends, I don't even know if I can recognize any of the squares I made! You could have sent me the ones I made back if you had taken off the papers and I would not have know the difference! Need to get busy pulling off the papers and pressing so I can start to plan. Have a couple of diffenent patterns in mind-front runner is the Pawpaw's Quilt on Ricky Tim's website (based on a quilt made by his fatherr or grandfather. Uses a lot of different colors and should almost empty my little bag of batik scraps that I did not use for the HTS's! Bev

crocus99 yes it is easier to use the forum after a bit of practice as I was the same, good luck with the signature as it adds a nice touch, and don't forget to put your state and country in the full word for those of us who live outside the US or such:
Taree NSW - Australia

Crocus999, you will find tips for navigating the TQS forum here: http://forum/forum-questions-and-sug...-the-tqs-forum
and info about the signatures here: http://forum/forum-questions-and-sug...s-on-the-forum
It's best to print out the steps and follow them exactly to reduce frustration! Most of us had to try several times to get the signature just the way we wanted it!
