Kicking breast cancer butt... My journey!

Finally decided to start a thread to keep you posted on my adventures while getting rid of breast cancer, the uninvited guest that decided to make home in my body at the beginning of 2013. Well more likely way before then, I just didn't realize it was there.

Yesterday, Friday, may31, 2013, I had chemo #7 (just one more to go, woo hoo!) it all was going ok until about un quart of the chemo was administered. I started having pain in my lower spine and little by little spreading up and more intense. Long story short, was having an allergic reaction to chemo, nurses started running to stop chemo, stabilize blood pressure, 158/99 (definitely high), gave me Demerol (pain killer) and had to have Benadryl to stop the allergic reaction, got it under control just when I was starting to gasp for air. Thank God didn't got all the way to anaphylactic shock. After a while I was able to continue treatment and finish. Having to stop it and start all over again another day would've just not be good. Now the added not fun part of it is that while most people get sleepy or even pass out while on Benadryl, I get insomnia and antsy for a couple of days. So I'm tired but haven't had much sleep. thank God DH is home and is takin care of kids and everything else.

Now to the good part. The wonderful members of the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild made a gorgeous pink quilt for me. You can see the story here http://www.phoenixmodernquiltguild.c...goes-home.html. One of the guild's member called it "Limbania's kick breast cancer butt pink quilt" and I decided that's the perfect name for it.

Limbania, so, so pretty. Although I have lived in Phx for over 35 yrs, and have been a member of AQG for about 10 yrs, this is the first I heard of Phoenix Modern Quilters. What a fantastic group of ladies. Thank you for sharing the site and I will definitely be checking into the group as a guest. Support and prayers are with you. Bless you and stay positive, the Big C doesn't like positive people, so kick some A__ __.

What a horrid experience with no. 7 chemo, so thankful that the nurses sorted you out so quickly. Good luck for no.8 and glad you have such a beautiful quilt from your (geographically closer) quilty friends.
