I just got the AAQI newsletter. This year is the last year for fund-raising as the $1,000,000 should be reached. If you planned on submitting a quilt, time is running short.

Yes. I think we should help her make this goal!

this has been on my "to do" list for quite some time. Maybe now I'll be motivated to get on with it! Thanks, Clara, for letting us know!

Better get going with the 3-4 that I have orphans for then. I can understand the why's to Ami's decision to stop, but am glad she started it anyway.

I too am sorry to hear that Ami will be ending this effort soon. It has been a great way for those of us who have more creativity than money to participate in something that can mean so much. I do understand that the time comes to end your involvement in certain things even if you love them. At my age, many things seem to be ending and fewer starting, although I have picked up some old hobbies and look forward to a couple of newer ones. I too have a number of started priority quilts so will move them higher on the list to make the Aug. 1 deadline.

Just as a lighter note, I usually read a very serious Christmas poem at our musical jam just before Christmas but forgot this year, so on Jan 7, I read a slightly modified version of the Twelve Days of Everlasting Turkey (wasn't sure us "Americans" would understand some of the food items so changed them to Texan English.) It was well received and got many laughs. One friend said "I got leftover turkey and stuffing out for supper tonight but may change my plan" So thanks for the poem. It was a great hit. Hugs to all, Ann (recovering from two bouts of the flu and a cold but on the mend_

I just went to the AAQI site to see what had happened with my Priority Quilts as a few weeks ago, I got an e-mail from a friend who said she had bought one of mine. Well, I was surprised nine of my 15 quilts are already sold for a total of approximately $450. I didn't do the exact math because my calculator is dead right now and my brain doesn't do pennies and nickels any more. But I was pleased. Check your own and lets report in. I am sure others have earned more but every penny counts. Still am trying to get a few more done in 2013 but life keeps getting in my road. Hugs to all. Ann

Ann - That's great! I hope to get some more made this year, but haven't gotten to that yet. I expect that'll be my push in May and June.

Ann that's great! I think I made 13 quilts and there are 2 that still haven't sold. According to my calculations they have made $588+ so far. I will make a few more before it is too late.

Is anyone else on the last minute crunch to meet the deadline for this year?

I've got several on the frame right now.

Ok, I can tell you guys. I just shipped off my quilts to Ami. I registered them before they were complete. I know, bad Clara. Then have been working like a dog on them ever since. Just completely finished them today and ran to the post office and shipped them off priority. Ooof.

30 quilts were completed. Talk about going to a buffet and loading your plate up too high. I will do better next time. It does feel good. Probably even better tomorrow. Pictures were taken and will be posted today or tomorrow.
