Pictured below are my first two purchases in Houston from the Altzheimer's Booth. I couldn't resist "Please Adopt Me!" #11,511 by Marlene Woodfield of LaPorte, IN ($70) and one of Clara's beautiful horse quilts called "Remember When? #11725 ($100). I was very impressed with the quality of workmanship on all the beautiful little quilts at the booth and all of the love that went into each one. I'm glad I was able to donate to such a worthy cause and come home with 2 adorable quilts! Many thanks to all of you who contributed your time, talent, and materials to this wonderful project!

Annis, that quilt is perfect for your DH with the other decor you have chosen for him. Shirley both your quilts are adorable.

Annis, what a perfect little quilt for your husband--I suspect he will really like it given what you've shown us of his likes. Shirley, great choices of little quilts!

So much fun to see what you bought. Lovely quilts.

I wanted to share a little part of an article that Ami Simms wrote about the trip to Houston and the quilts in the AAQI booth. There is a link below that you can read the entire article. We all were part of the making a huge impact for Alzheimer's.

I am very proud of all of us.

              Here's a little bit I promised.

I am humbled and honored and…..EXHAUSTED! International Quilt Festival was incredible! We sold 1,597 quilts and raised $75,000 for the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative!

This represents the largest amount of money raised by the AAQI at one time ever. We beat last year by $13,000. Most importantly, this means more money for research. Our Scientific Advisory Board is considering three grant applications right now for funding.

That is outstanding, Clara. It reflects highly on all those involved--the quilt makers, buyers, sponsors, volunteers, everyone who wants to make a difference!

Just read your blog. Go recycle Ireland. Hee Hee

I am very curious to see what you do with the crossstitch panel. It looks pale enough that some bright fabric or bright cording might pop wonderfully. Have fun. Clara

Another AAQI quilt (LOL Rosemary--another mini!). I wanted to see how Daniela Stout's method for making blocks from strips would work with one inch strips. I also wanted to try doing a two color binding with a flange. The picture needs turning around a bit so the middle block has the flowers looking up, but you get the idea...

I finally got the pictures of the little beauties I bought in Houston from AAQI and I also completed a small quilt from my class with Judith Baker Montanno.

My new quilt is called Floating. I really enjoyed manipulating the different fabrics and plan to make another in the size for AAQI.
