Month Seven - Applique Border 2 - Learn reverse applique and

There will be no video this month. If you managed the applique so far in this project, this is basically more of the same and the original instructions provide all the added information you may need.

Margo, I haven't started this one yet, but I hope to do so eventually. I have watched your videos though and learned a ton of things I need for some of my already-designed quilts...art quilts with some traditional elements. Thank you so much!

Hi y'all from sticky but beautiful Alabama.

Has anybody counted the number of leaves yet for Border 2? I know they are sort of counted in the instructions, but it's not exactly clear to me how many to cut. (Operative phrase there = "to me" - it might be clear to everyone except me, wouldn't be the first time.) But I am grumpy if I have to go back and cut out more after I get into my assembly line; so I like to count first.

I think we have 69 large leaves and 12 small leaves as follows:

          Large blue = 5
          Large light green = 51
          Large dark green = 13
          Small blue = 4
          Small light green = 8

I know the fabrics are labeled light and dark, but am hoping that makes sense to everyone.

          Am I even close?

Barb, on my khaki and red version I made 79 leaves. They were all khaki and I made them all the same size!

                Folks:

On the topic of the leaves:

Section B has a half of a leaf at both the bottom and the top. I can see where the connecting half leaf is on the bottom of section A, but I don't see where the half leaf connector is on the top of section A to match the other half leaf on section B. Can someone clue me in? Thank you in advance!

And MARGO - - Enjoy the vacation. Your videos have been so very valuable!

Sharon, just fill in the half leaf with a whole one.

Thank you, Margo. I guess I just needed "permission." i was concerned I was missing something and would end up short. I love your practical answers!! I have not yet been doing this long enough to have confidence. Someday soon! As my kids would say, "You rock!" (What would we do without you?!!!

Thanks for asking this question, Sharon. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong when I was ended up with half a leaf.

Still working on last month's borders but looking forward to getting caught up this month.

For those of you using the kit, is anyone else running short of the light green fabric? After cutting out all of the leaves for month 7, I am going to have VERY little of the fabric left. Looking at the picture of the entire quilt, it looks like this fabric will be used quite a bit in the other two borders that are coming in the next months. I have not been wasteful with the fabric so don't know what has happened. Margo, since you have already gotten month 8, will this light green fabric be used?? If so, I need to order more fabric. :?

Rosamond, I wish I could give you a definitive answer, but...I am using the kit to make a smaller, wall-size version of the pattern, so I'm having plenty of fabric. :?

The best I can offer is to just wait and see. If you do run out of one green, maybe you will have enough to substitute one of the other greens in the kit?
I think that ARJJ has ordered extra fabric and you should be able to order some from them if you want to.

I wish I had not cut the bias for the vines in month 5 before I knew how I was going to actually make the vines. I am using the 3/8 inch bias tape maker which means I have to trim down each and every squiggly bias strip.
