Sherry, I had been using Webshots, but that entire thing has shut down and is no longer available.

Whatever technique you decide to use, starching the fabric like described in the instructions really helps to stabilize the bias edges.
And no matter how you sew a triangle, two of the three sides is not going to be on the straight of grain!

I love using EasyMask paper for paper piecing. You can find it at paint or hardware stores, and it's very cheap. It comes on a roll in widths multiples of 3", so it's also great for longer than 11" pieces. It's just right thickness for the printer and pulls away very easily after stitching. I purchased mine at Sherwin-Williams paint store in my neighborhood.
I also use it for printing quilting designs, pinning to my quilt, and quilting right over it. It worked great for me as a very novice free motion quilter.

I also tried the freezer paper method a few times. I had trouble keeping the freezer paper stuck to the fabric. It probably works better with larger block sizes. Since I normally do smaller blocks, I will continue using my preferred method which is working with the fabric on top. I like seeing what I'm doing at all times and have found this method to work best for me most of the time. It's good to know all of the methods though as different ways work better for different style blocks.

Finished my first sashing set and they measure the correct size, thanks to Margo's instructions. I did review the freezer paper demo given in show 707. Right now I think I'll stick with the paper piecing, even though I will be tearing a lot of paper! The other method looks interesting, but I think I will stick to something I've done before.

Margo, while you're in the demo business, would it be possible for you to shoot some video for those of us who are doing the striplate method as per the pattern? The part where you block the sawtooth segments was particularly confusing to me. I managed to get these 2 segments blocked, but it took about 30 minutes with all my fumbling around. Since there are many more segments to come, I would dearly love to know that I am doing the blocking correctly!

Connie, that 30 minute fumbling around part is exactly why I switched to paper piecing!!
I'm still working on the PP tutes, but will try the other method after I figure out these.
(I can't tell you how far out of my comfort zone this is!!)
