Lovely Sandy. Just lovely. Doesn't it feel great to finish it? Now I'm working on my borders -- do want to finish before I begin 2009!

OK, I'm going to edit this to admit to my ribbit ribbit evening. I carefully peiced the 1/2 sq triangles for Sue's border - making sure to carefully look at the angles as she cautioned. After completing the right and left strips, I attached to the quilt! Great, one step closer!

Then I carefully looked at the picture, remembering her caution about right vs left leaning triangles --- and pieced my next strip - ready to attach to the quilt, and realized I had REDONE the left (or right) side!. Yep. Won't fit. So while watching CSI I removed the stitching of all the squares - carefully looking at the pictures - and then reattached them. Well, it is now probably 3 hours later, I'm ready to put them on the quilt. Great.

I have repeated the same mistake! Is there a message here? As in BRAIN DEAD!?! So I now will listen to Annie Smith's last podcast of the year while once again RIBBIT Ribbit the squares apart.

I have now scribbled over the right and left borders on the picture so I cannot look at them for the correct positioning!

If I thought it would do any good, I'd be mad. Instead I must learn to laugh at myself. Hey! Endorphins are good! ops: ops: ops:

Well, it's 8:30 a.m. and I already have 1 side finished and reattached - RIGHT this time. The other is ready to go, but first I'm off to Weight Watchers!

            DONE!!!!!

I tried to replace the previous photo of quilt withOUT the borders with the new FINISHED photo, but for some reason, it won't let me. I deleted the old photo, then uploaded the NEW photo, and the old one is what comes up. ???????

So I have TWO finished photos! Sorry.

Feels so good I might have a glass of wine!

I posted my almost completed 2008 BOM on the Show & Tell. All the crystals are now attached (still missing the beads on one month, which will be added after quilting). I've got the scalloped border marked but instructions say not to cut until after the quilting is completed. Now I just need to be decisive and make up my mind how I'm going to quilt this beautiful project.

I've been looking at everyone's finished BOM tops and all I can say is WOW!!! What beautiful work!!! And, Margo, I can't believe that gorgeous border!!! Lynn, I sympathize with you--but your top will be beautiful when you get those borders on!!! I have to admit that I've been working on my Mistletoe Manor top during the holidays instead of finishing my last two 2008 BOM blocks... ops: It did feel good to finish a UFO, though!

Well, I finally have my 2008 BOM done. I have added all of my blocks and the completed top to the Show & Tell.

I only did nine blocks because I wanted a square wall hanging and if I had used all of them I wouldn't hae been able to hang it properly. I added a shaped border with a tiny (Ricky's) piping in between the two colors.

Sue Nickels will be in town and teaching within a mile of me this March. I plan on taking all three of the classes she is offering, which include two on machine quilting & threads and one on fusible machine applique. I will start quilting it after I take her classes. That will give me time to decide how to quilt it and decide if I want to do any special techniques or not.

The 2008 BOM was fun and challenging. It was very difficult for me to decide which blocks to leave out as they were all so lovely.

                          Thank you Sue and Margo!

Thanks Margo, have you started quilting your BOM yet? I'm trying to decide if I want to do some cross hatching or something else. I will be machine quilting and when I look at all the starts & stops & turns I wonder if I would ever get it done?

I haven't decided what I'll do yet, Sandy, but I love the look of Sue's cross-hatching. It shows up really well in the picture she has on her blog. Link to it here, and scroll down to September 22. I know that she did hers on a long arm, and she said that it was tedious!
