Welcome Molliesmom! You won't have anything to be nervous about with this group... we cover a full range of experience AND expertise, as well as techniques, so you'll quickly learn there's no "right" or "wrong" and in a world like that, you can't screw up! There's been lots of advice and info on the applique, so I expect the same will happen when we move to piecing and quilting!

I read all of the posts but I am new to responding. I do raw edge applique on my block of the month. I figure they won't be washed that much. I also did samples and washed them 5 times or more and they all looked fine. Has anyone heard of The Cotton Theory (Fold and Finish Procedure) by Betty Cotton? When you use her procedure you quilt each block and them put them together. When you are finished you have a reversible quilt. It is beautiful and easy to do. I have bought her book and her DVD and they are very good. I wish Alex and Ricky would have her on the show.

And a big welcome from me too! It's always fun to meet someone new on the forum and to have a 'look' at your profile quilts.

Mim62- the quilt you are holding in your pic-I was just looking through that book at a quilt shop. It is really darling!

Thanks. I've enjoyed making those jackets. I just cut up a man's XL sweatshirt and quilt the fabric on them and them put them back together. I'm trying to figure out how to put my block of the month blocks in my profile, my son-in-law put the other pictures in my profile. I may have to get him to show me again. I did'nt retain.

Maybe you should say, "I didn't Retayne!"

Lynn and Jimmie, I didn't "Retayne" either! I need help posting my blocks (I'm still on May--life has been hectic). My daughter posted all my quilts and we live 60 mi. apart. She does it all so fast that I can't catch on! Anyway, I'm so glad we have some new BOMERS joining us! Judy in Torrance

My 16 year old daughter just helped me upload a photo of my blocks. It's a bit fuzzy, but adequate. I still have not added my berries. She's already asked for this quilt. It's on my profile.

Nancy, your blocks are really beautiful. I'm drawn to the darker background ones. The colors pop so much.
