I see now that I need to get on the ball, lol. I am still working on January's block ops: I finally figured out what I was doing wrong before and now I am humming along on that. I have 4 stems appliqued and since I am finishing the peicing on my DWR today I know I will have more time to devote soon. You know, I never knew I would like applique before this but now I love it!!

          Heather,
Don't feel so bad about being behind, I have picked out my back ground fabric and some of the rest of my palate of fabrics and thats about it ops: I havent even fully decided if I'm going to do it by hand or try a machine method.

Marge and Terri and everyone else...what a wonderful array of fabrics so far in the February block, and also January. I can't wait for March now that I'm in the swing of it. But ----- I have a few  unfinished projects calling to me. So I need to have to wait for March.

Well, I finished February & it's posted.... or rather, I thought I was finished... :? My computer is acting up so I'm just trying to get finished posting this before I crash, so I grabbed this forum header, and the post just above mine says something about forgetting the ball at the base of the vase... Hmmm... Serendipity, since there seem to be several February posts I could have selected from, and I might never have realized that I didn't do that yet! HA! oh well, so I'm almostfinished, and have printed off March & will try to get that one done before April! At least I get a few more days this month!
Anyway, everything except the ball is done & posted on my profile  Florence

Florence I really like your fabric choices together. Very nice. I love sightseeing other people's work because I would not have gone with those colors and it's great to see how beautiful colors that are not in my palette go together. It stretches my thinking. Anyway, do you have sashing ideas yet? I can't wait (well I'm going to have to wait lol!) to see yours and others who have gone a different color path all put together. I really wanted to experiment too but was so drawn to the original for a christmas quilt and time being limited am only doing 1 version (for now!)

There's another pic on my profile that has the basic fabrics for the rest of the quilt, borders, sashings, etc.-- I can't even remember now which was which, but mostly subbing pink for red & brown for tan.
I picked out my March fabrics today, I've got more subtle greens and more vivid pinks this time, trying to vary it up a bit, and I think this will work b/c this block sits between the first 2 (if I set them in order, yet to be seen!)

Oh, and I decided not to do the ball on the vase, I must have actually thought about it earlier too, since the fabric I used for the vase ends up w/ stripes right there, looks like a design element on it's own. Lucky me  so I really am finished with that one after all!

I didn't put the ball on my vase either. I've begun trying to select fabrics for March. Those stems and leaves will be "interesting" to do. :? I think I may go with purple flowers and vase star. Don't know what I'll use for the vase itself. I'll think on it for a few days because I'm in the middle of a Quilt of Valor and need to get it done.

I have to put Feb. BOM on hold, as I have to bind the quilt for my yougest Grandson, who is coming a week from tomorrow.
I have a busy week, Dentist, Eye Dr. appointments, and a couple of day time quilt meetings.

I'm on the ball today, lol!! I have prepared my newly aquired fabric, washing and ironing all 8 yards of mottled cream fabric and neatly folding it again (I'm using it for another project too), then cutting my 18 inch squares and zig-zagging one for the Feb block . I am trying my friend Donna's method this month, so I started by reversing the entire pattern onto freezer paper and ironing the whole thing on the wrong side of my background. Then I put it up on the window and traced the pattern onto my background front - I will use that again!!! My fabric never shifted and it traced sooooo easy. Now I just need to cut out the peices and prepare them like she told me, and I need to make those bias stems. Hmmm, I see the need to check out those stems again from the show... I'm on a roll now - lets see if I can get this thing done this weekend!!

                              Mandy,
you've been one busy gal! Your idea for tracing the pattern onto the front of the block sounds great. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.

PS. I find it hard to type with my cat on my lap. He wants to be right in there. Does anyone else have this problem?

My kitties always have to be in the way, lol. Its even harder to run the sewing machine with one on your lap.
