Nancy--don't worry we won't let the quilt police hurt you.

Good. I don't any police, I'm too busy. BTW I just finished reading a wonderful book, "Quilty as Charged" by Spike Gillespie. She interviewed many prize winning quilters for the book, learning all about quilting along the way, as when she started the project she was completely in the dark about quilting. Her final interview was with Karey Bresenhan, president of Quilts, Inc. and Karey said she hates the term "quilt police". But we all use it!

I am an applique newby. I started on the stars for block one today as we are snowed in. I think someone mentioned that appliqueing is so relaxing. Well they better tell my cramped hands. Also, my sewing room is a sitting room off my bedroom and it is carpeted. I am paranoid about dropped pins and needles. I have managed for 6 years without losing a pin or needle. Guess what I lost this morning? You guessed it. I have searched on my hands and knees with a flashlight backwards and forewards. Next comes the vacuum cleaner. The bad thing is that this area becomes a dormitory when the grandkids come with all of them on the floor with sleeping bags. AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH

Gloria: What you need is a magnet. I had a magnet wand encased in a plastic handle. It worked great. Then last year in Houston I bought a very strong magnet that is like a pointer and it extends and collapses down to a short 9". It is absolutely wonderful for finding and picking up dropped pins and needles. My sewing area is also carpeted so I know what you mean.

My February block is posted in my profile. Is it too early to start wanting the March block to be ready for us? Marge

Gloria, if you don't have a magnet, some scissors are magnetized and might work or one of those dishes for holding pins. Run those over the carpet. Judy in AZ

Marge, I love the fabric you used for the vase.
I had a snowy weekend and stayed home and got February BOM done. I don't think I will always be this quick!
I took a pic of Jan and Feb together, I liked that idea.

Regarding the missing needle.....I tried the magnet thing, got DH to crawl around and look too. Finally vacuumed the dickens out of the carpet. Thanks for the concern and the tips.
