      Hi to everyone,

I am Caryl Purdue from Evanston, IL, just north of Chicago. This is my first BOM too. I just couldn't help myself. I love paper piecing and Sarah's design just looks like too much fun to be missed. I also used Paint to drop in colors and after the 5th or 6th tedious try, I have settled on blues, yellows and fuchsia with a smattering of oranges and greens. I sure hope it works because I have purchased lots of new fabric (doing my part for the economy!) I look forward to seeing everyone's work and chatting about the process.

      All the best,
      Caryl

Thank you Margo for your quick reply - I plucked up the courage to explore after sending my previous message and did upload a photo of my work thus far in Show and Tell - just have to learn to save photos in My Documents folder before being able to upload. I did not do a colour map so am 'flying by the seat of my pants' as it were, and will bring in more colours as I progress through the project. I will check out the other links you sent me and update my profile to include a photo of myself.

I am Sandy from East Tennessee and I will be making the 2012 BOM. I am an inactive charter member who is ready to take on the challenge. I made the very first BOM in 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed the journey. Can't wait to get started......

Sandy, welcome back. I have been somewhat inactive, but this BOM has rocked me back!

Thanks Margo and Maggie. This quilt is so unlike anything I have done but I'm really getting excited about it. I haven't done anything for me in a while so I need this.

Hi Sandy! I'm glad to see you back. I've thought of you and wondered how you're doing. Good luck with the BOM.

Hi Sandy, it's good to see you again. I almost didn't recognise you with your new photo. I had to check your profile to make sure I wasn't thinking of the right person. I'm glad to say that I was :-) You will have a great time with this BOM, I know.

                      Hi everyone
I am also joining in as a first timer doing the 2012 BOM. Took part in the SOTTT exchange and the Strip Exchange and attended the dinner gathering in Houston. I still have trouble putting colors together, so I am going with Sarahs Blossoms and Blooms colorway. I have really enjoyed seeing what some of the ideas are for colors and must say I really do like the black with the brights. I almost wish I would have waited and maybe done something like that. Oh well, I saw Sarahs in Houston in the colors I am doing and loved it. I am in Panama now so will have to wait til later this month to finish the center (have the inside made but no borders attached yet). I am looking forward to this project and enjoy reading all the posts and finding out lots of interesting information.

I must be nuts. My UFO pile is too high but I can't resist this one. Am from Red Deer Alberta. Completed the Stars for a New Day Block of the month last year. It was incredible. All in nuetrals. Have never done applique before. So am looking forward to learning new techniques. Another challege is to jump out of the box. Choose to do in black and white (and greys). (I love color.) But with so many options of embroidery and tread painting, my head is spinning with excitement. Look forward to viewing everyones progress.

I will be giving this 2012 BOM a good try now that I got the templates to print out the right way! (New printer at work and it liked the templates! ) So I only got three spikes sewn on the star last night and hope to finish Temp 1 tonight.

Hi, I'm Barbara from Australia and I haven't done a BOM before neither have I done paper peicing or applique. I did do the 1/2 square triangle exchange and thoroughly enjoyed it, I am now in the process of almost finishing putting the borders on and then on to the quilting. I love the Buttons and Blooms
and even though I have some UFO's I couldn't resist it, I opened up my emails today and am excited as I have been told that my kit is shipped I must say I can't wait for it to arrive I'm sooo looking forward to doing it. I am a huge fan of Sarah Vedeller.

Okay, here's what is going on in my quilting room. My 2011 BOM is still up on my design wall, all the way up to month 3. Unfinished! I love it and WILL get back to the hand applique that I am doing on the swag border. My HSTs from the BIG exchange are our of sight; out of mind. My batik HSTs are calling to me to be finished for the SOS book. I recently bought about 10 yards of fabric to work on a pattern that I hope to publish. (I'm thinking big here! ) I just completed 41 little strip squares for the Spool Exchange. AND, for the last few days, I just couldn't help myself; I have been playing with this year's BOM! And am having way too much fun! My background will be black, probably 8 yards of it. But, right now I am working on the log cabin style legs of the outer star. Every leg will be a different color in the color wheel. It is quite a challenge to get the correct gradation, times 9 different colors, from my stash! But I am getting there! I LOVE color, and will probably make 11 star points and then see which ones make the perfect color wheel. Since I had just spent my alotted fabric allowance for the time being, I will have to wait to buy the 8 yards of black. So, I am only working as far as I can on each template, until I come to the black. Hey, you do what you have to, to still have fun!

Hello Winkydink! I'm glad you are joining in! I've missed or little chats!
