Pamela, I would suggest that you are close enough without unpicking for a quarter of an inch. You can easily work that into the next sections to come. I was meticulous, as you were and mine is just a little more that sixteen and a quarter, but as long as I have enough room to get the star points sharp, it will all work out.

Ptbograndma, I will take your advice and leave the block as it is. I'm really pleased with how the block has turned out, with the exception of the missing 1/4".

This is very helpful for those of us using Windows 10.

Dahlialady - Your block with the eproduction prints is so pretty. I love the flower in the center.

I'm another quilter whose block is 16" unfinished. I think some of my seams were a tiny bit too wide. Quite the learning experience. I don't have the time to make another and am wondering if adding a wider border in February will work or will I get myself into trouble trying to figure out what the size of next month should be.Is it better to add a small border now and end up with a finished Jan piece that is 16.5. Seems like a smarter way to go rather than adding a wider piece. What do you think?

Cherryhill, WAIT, do not add a tiny border now. You will be able to fix this easily in Month 2. Not to worry, it will all work out perfectly.

First month done. It is off by 1/4" but that could be my piecing. There use to be a place to post pictures of the BOM but can't find one for this year's. I don't like scrolling a bunch of messages to see the blocks. Anyway here is mine for month one.

Thanks for the info. I am doing this quilt to challenge myself in gaining better piecing get skills. So far, learning a lot.

So how do those of us who are off by 1/4 of an inch actually fix that in the next block?

From what I gather, in subsequent months Sue gives us pointers of how to correct this by adding perhaps a slighter larger border for the next month or perhaps a smaller one that will adjust to the size we need. I have done this is other projects I have worked on and it works out beautifully. I am still struggling with getting my printer to print the correct size but will keep working on that issue. Testing my skills as well.

                        Durstgirls.

I had several issues with printing out the pattern PDF. My HP print driver on my Mac no longer has the print actual size option. A friend told me to use the scale option. And set the scale to 100%. And it worked

This is my first major machine project and my first paper piecing experience. I left the paper on the back while stitching my parts to complete the square. So I came out with exactly 16 1/2 inches.

However I can say I have developed a close bond with my seam ripper.

I did Sue Garman's 2009 BOM. It was similar in a few ways to this one. All those thin red borders are able to be adjusted to make all the pieced borders fit. Don't worry!

I'm having some trouble with this. Do I need to cut the triangles larger? I'm not very good at paper piecing, but had 2 friends, who are very good at it, helping and still couldn't get some of them to cover the entire area. I'm open to anyone's advice.
