I pressed mine open as well because I felt there was quite a bit of bulk in some of the sewed seams.Comment

After messing up my sample block because of printer problems, I finished the "real" block today.
Pressed all the seams open because of bulk and just to be consistent.

I agree that sometimes it made sense to press the seams open to reduce bulk and at other times I let them go to the point of least resistance. I finished mine today and did fiddle with perfecting a couple of the diamonds.
