Wow! That looks great Donna! Thanks for sharing all your progress along the way with us.

I think it looks perfect. Anything you would change or do differently on it? Any technique you prefer over another? I've learned in quilting there's always a lot of ways to do something. Nothing right or wrong, just different.

I just started the flying geese. I cut the geese using the pattern directions. Next time I will try the DVD directions.
I wanted to see what my colors looked like playing together.

Watch those last 2 borders. The 2 large black dots on the pattern do not match the directions. It shows on the video sewing up to them. That part I think is correct and makes sense but on the pattern they are in the wrong place to make that work. Let me know what you think. I may be looking at it wrong.

Congratulations on all fronts. First and foremost the quilt is lovely. The speed at which these quilts are going together makes me think I should have gotten on board. I've used paperpiecing before and it's not my favorite. I've watched the DVD finding Jacqueline's methods more inviting. I know the patterns are sold out. Perhaps I should try another one of her patterns. You are doing a great job getting your things posted here too.

Donna love the quilt and the color choices. Read the instructions for cutting flying geese and watched that portion of the video last night. I want to tackle that part next. I really like that Jacqueline talks about her challenges when making the quilts (like running out of fabric on the outside of circle or border) and her solutions (making oversize and trimming it down). It's good to know that I'm not the only one with the problem. While I've made things oversized and trimmed down I haven't put the kind of thought into it that she has.

Thanks for the tip on the last two borders.

Did you do things exactly like she did on the video, cutting off the seam allowance on the star and spikes?

Yes, I did all except the flying geese. I wish I had done that. It does seem to work. Keep me posted. I am picking out colors today for another one. Most of her patterns To large for me. I really don't like big projects. She has another smaller one coming out this fall.
I will probably use a different pattern out of a book and try her techniques. I really like Judy Mathieson technique using freezer paper. She has a show on this web site.

Help!! I have done the center star and the NY beauty circle, now I'm ready the start plain circle. Stoopid question, I know, but the video stops at 1 hour 53 minutes and I am unable to get it to do anything but restart at the beginning. I've tried clicking on the chapters and anything else I can think of, and all it does is restart at the beginning. Help!!

I had the same problem a couple of times. Try using Google instead of Internet Explorer. And try logging out of TQS and logging in again. I haven't had any problems for the last week or so.

                    Good luck!

Well, I finished the quilt top. I changed the borders a bit as I wanted to add a little black to tie in with the center star. The colors are much prettier in person.

This was a fun little quilt to make. I learned some good techniques from the video. Jacqueline is a good teacher and the video was very clear.

Now to quilt it! I'm wondering what to do. What did the rest of you do?

I am getting ready to start quilting . I am going to start with stitch in the ditch and then make up my mind. I would like to hear what everyone else is doing.

I have not finished mine but am thinking of quilting in the ditch and some echo quilting. In larger areas perhaps something more organic and swirly....
                              Cheers

That sounds good. If we all keep going we will eventually get finished. LOL
