I imagine there's a learning curve for all of us starting on this - even if we know how to paper piece. That's one of the reasons I love taking classes - I always learn something new!

It looks great! Got my pattern today and will get to play with choosing fabrics including my hand dyes will this weekend. Will post choices once decided. Meanwhile we have lots of watering to do in our gardens as we have not had a drop of rain for over 3 weeks with temps in high 20's and even plus 32 C (very high in F). For Nova Scotia this is HOT!

I may be over thinking this project. I'm getting ready to make the center circle. The pattern has the seam allowance on it. Did you cut away the seam allowance or leave it? With it on there is no way to mark the dotted circle. Maybe I don't need to.
          Thanks

Have you watched the video? I think she show how to mark the seam allowance on the circle in the video.

After I had completed the center star I did cut away the seam allowance on the pattern in order to mark it on the fabric. I haven't put the center star into the outer ring yet, but I suspect we will need the marked lines for this. Maybe I should watch the video further along!

Cutting away the seam allowance is a very important part of her technique. The video is a lot easier to understand than the written directions.

I can't stress enough, be sure to make a copy of the pattern. I am saving the original and using my pattern for the piecing.

Thanks so much for the quick responses. I will email Jacqueline for permission to make a copy of the cente circle so I can practice with the copy.

I think the no copy means you cannot sell or share the copy.

I have the pattern and most of the fabric from my stash. I would like to know where to purchase no. 29 fabric for the corner parts & outer border. I think it makes the quilt. Thanks for your help.

I used different fabrics but I saw most of it in Joann's that she used.

Thanks. I guessed the hunt would be harder. I can't wait to begin.

How is the progress coming? I finished my my flying geese and have them sewn on the quilt. I had a few problems but worked it out. Now the outside borders. I would like to know how everyone else is doing.

Busy birthday week-end and out of town guests. I have my pattern and fabrics and looking forward to starting soon.

I did a New York Beauty wall hanging years ago without knowing what I was doing and no instructions, just a pattern printed from EQ but I want to follow these instructions and techniques. I will need to focus!
