Was stored in a loft for a few years and has been in my living room for a good fifteen years. But I havn't had the courage to try it.

Would love to learn as much as possible on the treadles in general... So please keep the discussion online so we can all 'listen' in.

I'm with you Lotti, want to know more about it.

I learned to sew in my Great aunt's Singer 1940ish treadle sewing machine. She has given it to me now that she doesn't sew anymore. It's back in her house in México though, have to figure out how to get it up here. Next time we go to México will have to find a way to ship it to get it home. Love that sewing machine, lots of wonderful memories.

Lois...you asked for a close-up of the faux piping....It was pretty easy.

Very nice. I love the technique. It's beautiful and it saves time not having to sew the binding down by hand. I enjoy the handwork sometimes but when the piping enhances the design I welcome using the technique.

OK Treadle machine fans, here's our homework:

            forum/index/[]=127

            http://www.treadleon.net

I'm going to do a Youtube search and see if I can find some videos that show how to operate various machines with shuttle bobbins.
I'll post if I find anything that looks promising.

Susan, I just went to the Treadle On webcite. I had been there before and learn quite a lot about machines. That's how I learned about the specifics I wanted in a treadle. This time I checked out Flea Markets and Events and found this http://www.treadleon.net/fleamarket/events.htm. Anyway there is a Treadle On Event June 7 & 8, 2013 in Lancaster. The link has more information. Maybe we could meet there with any interested TQS members and make a day, or 2 of it.

I have my Gran's old hand crank with lots of the extra feet. I also have an older Singer treadle, which has the long spool bobbin and only does forwards, fortunately I have found that I can use the feet from my Gran's machine on the treadle
I don't use them hardly at all, because the electric one is set up permantly on top of the treadle base, and the hand crank is 'officially' Izzy's now.

Maybe we need to start a separate TREADLE post so it will be easy to find. I have my Grandmothers treadle that needs to be overhauled.
