Teresa, Congratulations on winning a ribbon - well deserved, the quilt is beautiful.

Margo, I can see why your son really likes his quilt. I love the colors and you did a terrific job. The quilting is perfect.

The name of the book is Judy Martin's Log Cabin Quilt Book. I would say it is not your typical log cabin quilts. The first quilt I ever made was from Eleanor Burn's Log Cabin Quilt in a Day book. These are nothing like it.

Margo that quilt is beautiful! I am glad you finally remembered to post a photo. The quilting pattern is perfect too. What a lot of detail with all those pebbles/bubbles and the fabulous swirls. No wonder your son likes.

Teresa: go for it... You do just add One Pierce at a time... And no one is mentioning any deadlines....

Margo: fabulous quilt, and fabulous quilting. Truly one he will treasure!

Absolutely not!! But...there are several really good long armers who are TQS family!

That is such a great Myrtle Beach kinda quilt, Margo and beautiful panto! Makes me want to have one (both the quilt and the HandiQuilter...). By the way, which HandiQuilter do you have, the Avante, or another one? This quilt is just beautiful!

Have you done any of Judy Martin's other quilts from that book? I must be crazy because I am looking at doing either the Snake River Log Cabin, Finger Lakes Log Cabin or Shoreline Log Cabin. Just counted the number of pieces in them and wondering if I have lost my mind (anywhere from 4,500 pieces in 1 to 7,600 pieces in another). I have never tried anything with that many pieces but I just keep thinking - you just sew 1 piece at a time....
                      Hi Teresa -

I have plans for a Snake River Log Cabin in caramel and black (the colors of my dog). I plan to make the border a little wider and add a dog applique prancing around it, as the quilt to represent my current dog. I've been collecting fabrics for a while and have some of the pieces cut and organized in silverware trays, but haven't started any of the sewing. I thought the Summer Lake pattern would take a long time to piece from looking at it, but it went together pretty quickly. I think the Snake River one will go together fine if I just take it one piece at a time. I'm looking forward to seeing your other beautiful Judy Martin quilts as you make them!! Like I said, I'm a big fan!!

Your quilt is beautiful! It definitely brings the sand and sea of Myrtle Beach to mind! I haven't been there since the early 80's when we went there a couple of times for family vacations....

I love that panto and think I've seen it on other quilts on mqresource.com. Really brings to mind the surf!

My favorite pattern of Judy Martin is Shakespeare in The Park. I used her pattern to make a quilt for my nephew's high school graduation gift several years ago.

Good eye, Nancy! I learned of "Gypsy Feather" from VictoriaQuilts on MQR!

Margo - I love the colors you used for it. That quilt is on my list of quilts to do. I may need to rethink my color choices on it after seeing yours.
