Lynn, so glad you are OK!

Anyone heard from Karen yet? I used to live in Kingwood, where Karen is from, and it sits right on Lake Houston (with waterways that connect to the Gulf) so my hubby and I are worried that things probably weren't/aren't good for Kingwood residents.

Lynn, so glad to have you back! I read on my Yahoo group that the Kingwood area is still without power and may not have it back until Oct. 5. Oh my goodness! That is soooooo long yet!

Lynn, good to have you back!!! It's good to hear you came through Ike okay. Sorry to hear about the trees--my sister's neighborhood in Katy had the same problems. Judy in Torrance

Yes, I think Woodlands and Kingwood are still, in large part, without power. I head last night that they were up to 69% WITH power now. A friend called today and he got power about 2 pm. So they are making progress. I'm at work again and doing a fast email read on office time.

                      Hello, Hello, Hello!

The eye of Ike went directly over Kingwood and the sounds from it were pretty scary. We could hear wind and even the debris hitting the house and windows for about 8-9 hours. Yet, we suffered no damage. I was amazed. We really expected to have trees go down, windows blown out and loose part of our roof. We were thankful that none of that happened. Houses around us had huge old trees down everywhwere. But about 80 % of those trees fell away from the houses.

I am sitting at my BIL &SIL's as we still have no power. The mosquitos are so bad at our house that we cannot even use the grill outside. The daily search for ice, and the heat and the dark have gotten old. It will be wonderful to get back to normal. But we also recognize how others are suffering and it could have been so much worse for us. We are very thankful.
