Pat, that is so wonderful that you were able to do that for your mom and those others! I am sure they must be terribly glad to be home - I know I would be :-) Blessings to you.

Has anyone heard from Lynn? I hope there's just a power problem so she hasn't checked in, not something worse...

Pat that was good of you to get your rescue bus on the move. I'm sure they were all thankful to get home.

Just talked to Mom, she slept until 9 am this morning. She said she took a 20 minute hot shower, LOL.

And I wonder about Karen (Wren1010) - she said they were going to hide in a closet.

Just saw on the news that 1600 people are being sheltered in the convention center so I guess it is ok.

I emailed Lynn on Sunday, but have not heard from her. I'm sure she is without power. There are 2.2 million without power here in Texas.

We were very lucky and only had high winds, not a drop of rain. We are west of Houston.

Our friends from Orange were not so lucky. They have been asked to stay away, for the time being.

Pat, I'm glad you were able to go get your mom. Was the traffic really bad? Glad you are back home safe.
                    Happy Quilting,

I wanted to share what Ike did in the Cincinatti area. My #2DS and DIL live across the Ohio river in Covington, KY. On Sunday they experienced 90 MPH wind and the Ohio/Kentucky area and probably Indiana was without power. Thousands of trees were down and they were told 3-4days without power, but he called last night and they had power, but very old trees in their neighborhood are mangled.

He never thought that a hurricane could do damage in Ohio/Kentucky. He is from Colorado and just expected rain. You never know about the weather.

Sharon in blue sky Colorado - today my DD is 21 yrs old -- when did that happen?

Sharon I'm glad the kids are all safe. By the time old Ike got up here to Cleveland we got 65 mph winds. Not as bad but a surprise none the less. I talked to my sister in law in Texas to see how they were doing and they said the storm made a sharper turn than expected and that we got more than they did in Dallas. How strange. Hey also today is my baby's birthday too. She is 23 though. If you figure out how this happened let me know too.

Wanda, there wasn't much traffic either going toward San Antonio, or coming back south again. There were big signs along the roads, though, saying people should not try to drive to Houston or Beaumont, as there is limited fuel and it's not safe. I do hope everyone is safe. I'm always glad when another of our members checks in to let us know they're okay.

Too funny, TOMORROW is my eldest daughter's birthday! Maybe it's because we're all quilters... only I wasn't, back in 1971! Here in northwest Arkansas, all we got was 1-1/2 inches of rain and some gusty wind - maybe 40 mph. I think Ike just nicked our area before heading northeast.

I have been wondering about Lynn and Karen too. Praying for them and anyone else we haven't heard from.

Saturday we had some very high winds and I was a little worried about a couple trees but no damage thankfully. I decided not to go to Saturday service feeling a little under the weather and found out a tornado touched down near the church but church had no damage either. So feeling very fortunate here. Hurricanes amaze me with their far reaching effects.

The last I heard from Karen (wren1010) was Fri the12th. She mentioned that they would probably lose power and it was estimated to be out for two weeks so I am hoping that is the only reason not to hear from her and Lynn too.
