Well 4 Dr's in 3 days but I did manage to do a stint at a fabric shop. I got some great fabric enough for at least 3 small wall hangings. I wanted to make them for christmas presents. I am also going to try my hand at fabric art. My son wants a dragon quilt. So here goes. I bought some muslin. I thought I would sketch a dragon on it and go from there. While I was at the fabric shop though it was funny. There was this guy behind me waiting for upholstery fabric to be cut. Anyway every fabric that I wanted cut was already cut just a little longer then what I had asked for by a quarter to a third yard. It was funny he said it was a good thing I wasn't fussy. I told him I was a quilter we love our stash.

I finished the trapunto, with for some reason one corner motif giving me problems. Now it is time to stipple and get the edge fans stitched down. From there it is the home stretch with binding and label. WOOO HOOO! THere is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Debbie, no I don't belong to a local guild. I looked into the clamshell and thamesvalley guilds, but there was always something happening those nites.. Kids schedules change this year, so I might have a chance at joining. I am an honorary member at my sisters guild in Milfor Pa. I participate when ever I am in town visiting. In fact there is a guild trip to a show in 1 1/2 weeks that i have been going to for the past few years. Cheryl

Well today is Friday, I am going to try to take my vacation. It seems I am a week behind in my work. But I have major plans to clean my studio (akaBasement), cut out projects, Dr. appts., painting and staining my new doors, putting a new quilt on the rack, maybe painting the one wall in the dining room  . Let's see if or how little I can get done, only because there is dh in the mix.
Cheryl, if you would like at any time, please, come and join us for an interesting evening at the guild, or just to have a cup of java.
Debbie

Phooey, probably no sewing again today. My side has been hurting all week. I had what looked like a small bug bite but by Tuesday night there was a lump under it. I saw the doctor on Wednesday and he said it was an infected cyst. He put me on antibiotics and wanted to see me again today. So this morning he numbed the spot and lanced it. So I'm on pain meds and taking it easy through the weekend. I will probably print out my foundations that I prepared the muslin for and figure out the strips that I need to cut, but that's probably about it, depending on how I am feeling.

This has been a fun week. I basted, quilted, and bound that charity quilt, and also my buddy Doris came over and we finished the simple dress that we had started a while back for her. She did almost all the sewing on some of my treadle machines--she's thinking she wants to buy one, so was trying different ones to see which one she liked best. The dress turned out really nicely and looks great on her. We worked on it Wednesday, Thursday, and today in the afternoons. My mom helped with the sleeves. Years ago, she took the Bishop classes and knows how to do things right. And we used the Elmer's school glue instead of pins for everything but the sleeve seams--it worked so well, much nicer than pins, and nothing shifted. Love that glue, thanks, Sharon Schamber.

Our daughter and her SO were here over the holiday weekend, so I didn't get anything done. We had a lovely visit, though. We hadn't met Jack. He seems like a nice man. Anyway, after taking them to the airport very early yesterday, I puttered around a lot--got some stuff put away in the studio, so it's not quite the disaster area that it was--still pretty horrible, though. I'll putter out there a bit more today. My Australian friend and her spouse will be here Thursday or Friday. We plan to drive down to Progreso, Mexico for a day, see the local sights here another day, then up to San Antonio for a day to see the River Walk and the Alamo, and so on, so won't get to sew for a while. Maggie is a quilter, though, so we may steal some time in the studio.

Have not been near the sewing machine since Saturday... I am suppose to be working on a fusible raw edge banner for the quilt show but have not been able to do anything.
I hope to be done this weekend so I can drive it over to the TV station for advertisements on Monday... how do I get volunteered for this stuff anyways? I always wait til the last second... bummer.

Tilde Thread: September 06, 2008
Sewed binding on my Christmas Kaleidoscope after reviewing Sharon Schamblers video several times. I am currently trying to get it sewn down.
Working on the thread painted banner for the QUILT SHOW advertisements. I will work on it tomorrrow and have it "DONE" by Monday.
Life KEEPS GETTING IN THE WAY... I spent the day with my 6 mo grandson. Mommy was exhausted because KING NEAL wont nap and is sleeping poorly. So his majesty spent the afternoon entertaining Nonnie and Nonno.
Back to quilting after I get a nap!

I'm finally working on a quilt! It's an attic windows design for a friend at work who, in exchange, is making me a ruler rack to hang on my wall in my (future) studio. She wanted a quilt with tools on it and I was able to find some great fabric on-line. I did check my LQS first though. She and both tried to find wall racks on the internet but couldn't find any. That kinda surprised me. I'll post pics of the quilt and the rack when we make the trade.

Well I spent 3 hours today at a LQS selling raffle tickets for our guild quilt. I brought the quilt that I'm fixing with me and got three logs sewn on. I also took some time to look around because I had not been at that store before. I found two fabrics that might work for other logs that need to be replaced. I then stopped at Wal Mart on the way home looking for clear Contact paper and walked by the much smaller fabric department. I found another fabric that might work. So now I think I only need two more fabrics. We'll see what my friend thinks. She is an appraiser and historian and has been helping me with this quilt.

:P Thank goodness school has started :!: Maybe now I can reclaim my house, sanity, and quilting room. Also maybe now I can quilt during the day without feeling quilty about it. ops: I tell you my kids know how to lay it on thick if I take me time. I have bought some great fabrics over the summer though. I can not wait to get busy again. Rachel

I was so excited today.......went to a fabric sale, it was unfortunely the stash of a quilter that has passed....but her husband had her guild come & get all her quilting stuff & sell it all today..... sad day
but a happy day also........ They were selling the fabric by the pound so you filled your bag & then had it weighed....talk about getting into trouble ops: ........ figured with all that I have I bought 40 yrds of fabric for $85.......so I think that was a very good
deal!!!!....... We were there in the first hour of the day & I don't think anyone went out with less that 5lbs of fabric!!!!........
So now I had better get busy and get something started as I had
just finished a project and hadn't started anything new yet.....
Happy Quilting to all of you
Marty
