Good morning ladies, well, I can finnally get on the computer, not for long though can't sit up for too long. Out of the hospital, doing okay, hopefully I can start going up and down the stairs to my sewing machine Mon or Tues. Glad to hear everyone is still keeping up on their projects.

I am headed out to the LQS this morning after working diligently on my Chocolate BOM. I am needleturning the blocks in this quilt. I have just a little bit more to go to add a ribbon to the top of the box of chocolates. Then to show it off at the meeting. But the best part is a new chocolate dessert each time we go. That shoots my diet for today but it is worth it. (Maybe if TQS would give out chocolates every time we finished the BOM, I'd get started on it) Judy in AZ

Good news DH looked at my sewing machine yesterday and fixed the rattling in it. I sewed on it for about 20 minutes and no problems yet. You gotta love that man he fixes everything. Won't touch theother machine tough so still have to drive over an hour away to get it fixed. Oh well at least one seems to be fixed.

I didn't get any sewing done today, but did get another treadle. DH and I drove to San Antonio to get it, and we spent just about the same amount on gas for the trip as the treadle cost, LOL, but it's a machine that I've been wanting for a while. The head will go into an older cabinet, and the cabinet will get one of my other machine heads in it. I went at the rather beat-up cabinet, first cleaning off some petrified glue from masking tape. The lady we got the machine from had brought it home from her great-aunt's place 15 years earlier, and had taped it so the drawers and the lid wouldn't move during the trip. That took a lot of Goo Gone and elbow grease. Then I used some 0000 steel wool and Dr. Woodwell's Elixir on the wood, and finished with Old English lemon oil polish. It looks much nicer now. Tomorrow, I'll work on the machine head and get it nice and clean and running smoothly. I do love working on my old beauties.
Pat in Rockport, TX, who hopes to have the new machine sewing by tomorrow night.

Working on the bargello quilt today.
I finally got the colors selected, I thought that would be easy but it was really hard coming up with a pleasing placement. You know that it will look different once you start sewing it together. I hope I do not get any nasty surprises after I start sewing it together.
I sewed all the strips together... two runs of 2-1/2 inch cuts of my fabrics... x 2 cuts.... Only took me two and half hours...
Yes I am getting back to figuring out how long it takes to sew a quilt. I think this is important information for the future. I find if I keep a log... I sew more often and much more efficiently and do not procrastinate as much.
OH WELL... I alway though I was a little nuts.
Have a good sewing day.

Went home sick from work yesterday...such a rare occurance that the boss didn't hesitate to cut me loose from my casino job on a Saturday. It's a cold and I felt like total CRAP. Worked a little on an altered image quilt. I feel more functional today and got the quilting done and blocked it on my ironing board. It's drying. I should get the binding done this evening. Going to do the hanging triangles in the corners. Yesterday when I was feeling so bad I told DH, "Being sick is such a waste of time!!"

I started out today working on that old machine head--I found out from a Canadian friend that it was made in St. Jean, Quebec in 1949. It would hardly move, so I had to marinate the innards in some PB Blaster for about 20 minutes. I cleaned out a lot of old, dried-on oil that looked like varnish after the PBB softened it up for me. I think that lady must have used 3-In-One oil on it, or some other non-sewing-machine oil. Anyway, after getting it all cleaned up, I tried it out sewing. The tensions on the bobbin case and on the upper part of the machine needed to be adjusted. Now it sews just beautifully with a perfect straight stitch. So, I lowered the feed dogs and put on a free-motion foot, and found that the machine also does free-motion perfectly. I love this machine. I think I'll try getting another kid's quilt free-motion quilted this week. I have it set up with the Supreme Slider and the Halo, ready to work, but I have to remember to put one of the Magic Bobbin Genie things in before I get really serious.
Pat in Rockport, TX, who is just as happy as if she were in her right mind today.

Pat where do you keep all your treadle machines? I can't wait to get my grandmother's old Singer to my house.
Sherry - hope you are feeling better today and can't wait to see your next altered image. I still haven't received my fabric but after I emailed to check on the order they emailed that they had experimented with a new shipper and it did not work. I has now been sent UPS and they also gave me a 50% off my next order.
I worked on my son's quilt over the weekend. I got the flying geese border around the mariner's compass finished. Now I have to see if I have enough material to get the quilt as big as he wants it.

Sandy, if you click on http://community.webshots.com/user/pknord you'll be able to see most of my treadles. They're all over the house, but most are in my studio. I just love the one that I got Saturday, and I think it's going to be my favorite for free-motion quilting. It was made in Canada in 1949, so almost new, LOL.

Well the floor is finished in the family room and most of the stuff is out of my sewing room. Poor DH, he was so stiff and aching after putting down the floor. Next day I made him see a doctor, only to find out he has Lyme Disease. THank goodness I hounded him. I didn't get a needle full, but DD took care of that by working on a quilted stuffed elephant for future cousin, and started sewing last night. I have cut out the batting to make the trapunto on the baby quilt and am in the process of attaching to the quilt top. PHoto is on my camera, but my son "borrowed" my camera for work so I can't post just yet. Can't wait for him to get his own camera. Mine keeps disappearing when I want it. Any way I was just checking in quickly and now I am off to my room. Cheryl

Thanks Sandy...I'm better today. Back to work tomorrow.
I posted my latest altered image quilt in my profile. It's a little darker than what I usually do but I like it. I've been experimenting with using my own fabric in my printer-backing it with freezer paper and whatever else might work. Results are mixed!
