Started working on something different today. We have a coffee table with a glass top and I decided to make a quilt to go between the table and the glass. It's a long oval shape. It's my first not-square project. If I can translate my idea to fabric it oughtta be purty cool. We'll see!

I'm part of a shoebox swap and I have to get my block done today, as well as go shopping for the backing for a customer quilt and food shopping.

Got more work done on my "Friday" quilt. I got six logs sewn on today. Maybe tomorrow I'll get over to WalMart to see if I can find some fabric to match some of the other logs.

          Accomplished this week:

Sewed and basted the side borders to my GS farm panel quilt .... use a type of Sharon Shambers method... pretty cool. ... now on to machine quilting. Worked on blocks for my ( not TQS) B.O.M.s I have been trying to sew one hour each night after work... the funny thing is one hour becomes two then bed time.

I watched series 3 DVD of TQS... I have now six techniques I want to try out. I hope to incorporate them in my current UFO that I want to finish... this will make finishing fun.

I was at a retreat and I was able to turn 100 neutral blocks into a quilt top. One border on and one more to go. The quilt is so large that I'll only attach 2 borders and long-arm quilt it. Then I'll quilt the 2 side borders on my home machine and attach them.

I made lots of progress on my Rhapsody quilt - Island Dreams. I've posted a photo at show N tell. When I took the photo, I thought I would post it in the shopping section and then realized it was closed.

This Rhapsody project is so much fun. Ricky's directions, as usual, are perfect and easy to follow. I was surprised at how many quilters at my retreat had not heard of Rhapsody yet.

I've finally gotten a great start on the quilts I'm making for Josh and his siblings. I've gotten all the squares cut out. The first set of half square trianges are done and ready to be sewn to a square to make quarter square/half square triangles. Today at quilt bee I worked on them. I may sew on them some tonight after the ballet if I can't sleep. I working the ballet tomorrow night also, so I might have some time in the morning to work on them also.

I finally found a nice border fabric for Kyle's Orca quilt and am in the process of quilting it with a watery looking matallic thread which is giving me trouble. I have broken about 6 needles, and it took me awhile to fix the tension. Even going slow and changing the throat plate from single to the wide hole, I still break needles. THough not as fast. I don't suppose anyone knows where I can buy needles in bulk quantities. I have a month to get it done before graduation.

Have you tried putting the metallic thread in the bobbin and quilting from the back? Just a thought.

how about referring to the troubleshooting page on the superior site. I was at a "threadology" talk recently, and there may be several things from the tension to the position of the spool. Check it out and good luck. (don't forget to post a pix when it's done)

I actually have the metallic in both top and bottom. I wanted it to have the same affect on front and back. It goes great for about an hour, then it starts breaking. I take a break, re-thread and do all that is recommended including missing the last hook before threading the needle(which did make a difference), but it still happens.

I have to agree here. Go to Superior's site and if the charts don't help, give them a call.
Have you tried running another thread in with the metallic?

Thanx for asking! It came out pretty good and looks really cool under the glass of the coffee table. I'll put up a pic on my profile.

THe thread is okay, it's the needles that break.. I was doing fine until DH came to see how things were going, and as soon as he left, I broke three in about 15 minutes.... UGH!!!
