I do love hand dyes and yours look so good in that design. I face quilts quite often I'll give you my tips when I've got the girls up

      It's yummy!

Right my tip is after trimming zig zag your edges. Sew your facing to the front as you would a binding and sew again 1/8" from the edge. Turn facing to back and press with steam then slip stitch in place. Hope this helps .

There are tricks you can do with corners but I just trim them after adding first facing side and it works. I think one is to sew the second side down the first edge before turning, I've tried that and it gave a neat corner. I'll share if I can find the tutorial. I tend to take tips from several.

Thank you Renata, Rosemary and Wendy. All ideas are interesting and useful. Terry thanks for the comment on the border. I worked so hard to make that border much more difficult than it needed to be! In the end I did what I should always do when faced with a dilemma. Walk away, have a glass of wine and a good nights sleep! It's always better the next day.

Geneva, I love what you whipped out with your hand-dyed fabrics! Super cute! Love it all. I also go to my Go! when I need something fast.

Hi Karen! I never can ever keep up with this huge active topic, so I just pop in and read it once in a while for the most part, but usually I miss a lot of the fun. :S :side:

That's why I try to check and read all the forum each day so I don't miss anything but I got too busy for a bit!

                      Hello everyone!

I hope you are enjoying September. The time seems to fly!

I made another baby quilt. This is for a baby due at the end of October. He will be named Judah. His mom asked for royal colors. I was stumped for a bit, but then just went ahead and started sewing. I downloaded a small embroidery about the lion of Judah. This simple 30 minute embroidery took almost 2 hours because Sybil likes to break threads. She isn't very nice when it comes to doing embroidery. In any case, I finished!

Once again, it's not too "baby" but I think the mom will like it.

                      Take care, geneva

Lovely Geneva though the colours are strange for a baby. I thought the same when I was asked to make a grey one. Love the addition of the Jonah bit it make it special particularly with all the tears you've put in it. Naughty Sybil!

Geneva, it's lovely! With all the modern colors and things these days, it's a beautiful quilt for a baby boy! I love that stripy border you did, too. Really frames the quilt nicely!

Hi Ladies, I just joined The Quilt Show forum a couple of days ago, and would like to introduce myself. My name is Katie,I'm 29 years old and live in Long Island Bahamas.I have been sewing and doing all types of crafts since my mom taught me how to sew at the age of 14.My love of quilting began in 2002 after I made my first small wallhanging from the wreath pattern out of the book Quick Watercolor Quilts by Dina Pappas. Since making my first quilt, my quilting has evolved over the years to include hand and machine applique quilts from various patterns and even my own designs. This past year my mom and I got into two other aspects of quilting by taking quite a few of her free online classes. The photo I have attached is a quilt I made and finished back about a month ago from the blocks that you made in her traditional quilting course.I have also added a photo album of a few of my quilts or quilt related projects that I have made over the years on my page on this site.Happy Quilting.Hugs Katie
