Marilyn - Wish I could help you on that plant, but I don't even know the names of most common plants. Hope someone can help you. Your husband's work is wonderful!
Geneva - Glad you're getting back in the swing of things. That table runner turned out beautiful! Glad you persevered! I'm sure it'll sell quickly. Love the tooth pouch, too. What a great idea!

Thanks everyone for the kind remarks ! I think hubby is pretty talented too ! He does his own designs
and it keeps him busy and out of my hair now that he is retired !
I may never know about that plant !!
Geneva.. hate those fires ! and it sure is fire season....a couple between your house and mine ! lots of smoke here .
Glad your sewing again !

Marilyn, your husbands wood working is wonderful! Not sure re the flowers I think they're Dahlias, Dahlias can grow 7-8 feet tall, gorgeous flowers in the fall. We grew Dahlias when we lived in Washington state. The deer loved them, we'd dig up the root/tubers after the first frost and stored them in the garage over the winter. Replanted them again in the spring.

Marilyn, I am confused. You show a picture of a very tall, yellow flowered plant, and then say the next picture is the plant in question. I think the second picture is a close up of the first plant, and I agree with Barb that it looks like a dahlia, not a trumpet vine. At least no trumpet vine I've seen. As to the 3rd picture, the plant with the white flowers..........is that the plant in question?
Renata, your HC quilt is so wonderfully unique! I hope the judge sees the time involved in doing it! I guess we will all find out on Monday. Unless, like their other deadlines, we wait a week longer.
Now I need to go back and read other posts. Just needed to comment on these two while I had a moment.

The plant in the attachment is our tallest trumpet vine... and for gardeners out there a question :
We don't know the name of the plant in the next picture...2 yrs old and 8 feet tall...loaded with blooms.
Anybody know what it is??
That's all for now....On to August ....fall is on the way !!
Then in the second post there is a full pic of the plant followed by a close-up of bloom and leaves.
The last pic with the butterfly shows a Syringa or Mock Orange....the common one that grows wild here in the NW.
Hope that is better....an Nope...not a Dahlia.
Did I tell you that peacock was beautiful !!

Okay, Marilyn........I still don't see a trumpet plant. Your first plant photo, in the first post, has a beautiful, singular flower. No trumpet shape there. But hey, I can learn something new.
Anyway, the yellow flowers all tied up, and standing tall......they are the plant in question? I still say they are a variety of dahlia. The buds are a dead ringer for a dahlia bud. Can you take some leaves and a flower to a local nursery, and get an identification?
Also, your husband's woodwork is exquisite! I love it when a guy has a creative hobby! Mine just bought a drone to fly. Scary!!!!
And, thank you, on my peaco.......wait! It is a hummingbird! At least it was the last time I saw it.
Geneva, stay safe! I hate going to bed when there is fire on the horizon! Very scary!
