Jen, as someone whose sewing room doubles as a guest room, I can let you know that the guest bed will soon be about two foot deep in phd's, pigs, wip's and ufo's, plus the latest acquisitions that haven't yet been put away :P B)

Wendy - I love that my sewing room is considered part of my nesting! When my husband first heard the term 5 years ago he threatened to take my fabric stash and make a real "nest" for me by ripping everything up and throwing it in a pile for me. I told him he'd die a slow a painful death if he even thought of touching my fabric! In reality I have to move everything to finish the nursery...I've put it off this long, but I'm quickly running out of time! Next weekend family is coming to help move big brother's bed/dresser/stuff into the old sewing room, and assemble the crib and everything in his old room (right across the hall from us and easier to access in the middle of the night). I get to sit back and "supervise" :P

Rosemary - I have no doubt the bed will be covered, but since we have a family member/guest every 1-2 months on average I'm hoping I can be good. I've got shelves in the closet for all of those PIGS, and UFOs. It's the WIPs and PHDs that typically get me in trouble! I like to spread out when sewing and I always have more than 1 project at a time (my artistic side has more than a touch of ADHD)

Hi Marilyn and all! I've been following the Forum but in the background for quite a while, haven't I? Actually pieced and quilted a few things this year--a table runner, a Baltimore Orioles lap quilt for someone who underwent a bone marrow transplant, and finally, after three missed tries (due to lack of self-confidence), I participated in the Hoffman Challenge this year and my quilt was accepted, so like Nancy, BJ and Dawn (are there any others that I've missed?), it will be considered in the final judging in August.

After finishing the Hoffman Challenge piece, Wendy, while I might not need digging out (don't have that many projects going), I definitely have to clean up my sewing room before starting anything else!

So, here it is: Memories of Sardegna--I spent part of my childhood in Sardegna, Italy, as well as a couple of years there about 30 years later and was always surrounded by Sardinian crafts--baskets, woven linens, carved furniture and wrought iron pieces. So my quilt is a Sardinian basket from a town about an hour away from where I grew up. It's actually a tray, rather than a bowl.

Wow Renata your quilt is gorgeous! Fabulous design thank you for the story. Have we seen your runner and Baltimore?

Good luck with the challenge, you clever lot.

Wendy, I've been absent so long, I'm pretty sure I did not post those two pieces. So I'm attaching here. Sorry I don't know how to make the photos come out smaller (if someone can tell me, please?).

As for Sardinian baskets, if you look at my avatar, my cat is sleeping in one of my baskets from the northern part of Sardegna (the quilt basket is southern Sardinian).

Yes they're small enough  Thank you for posting I like your quilting and the colours.

My cat would do that with the basket! So they're quite big
