Very nice journal cover. I agree. It looks like leather. Rosemary, the quilt is lovely. Glad there were no sharks. Was that DH pushing Lily. Is the varnish job maintenance or did he construct the canoe? Is that what he did at our Virtual Retreat?

Lois, DH was putting a rope loop through the bow for lifting. He has been on a boat building retreat since Izzy's birthday  He started with 4 sheets of 8' x 4' x 4mm plywood (Measurements are weird that way here in UK), a load of glass cloth & resin. I got to be in charge of draping the glass cloth (it is cloth = therefore I am in charge!) and caning the seats for him a few weeks back.

          Rosemary,
          Beautiful quilt.
And thanks for the tip on using a dark fabric to enhance a scrappy quilt. I always think along the lines of light neutrals, but I will definitely give this a go in the future
May God bless each of you with a calm day,

            Wow, Rosemary,
Caning seats for a boat!? I took a class in that year's ago. A man I worked with provided a chair for me, we had to clean out all the holes, etc then weaving all those layers. I really wish it would have been MY chair by the time I finished doing it. But I did learn the process and enjoyed it. Maybe someday I will find that perfect little chair that needs a new seat,,,hmmm, maybe not! LOL
There's a lot already going on around here. But I love being busy about, with projects that intrigue me.
May God bless everyone with a day of calmness.

Thanks for the close-up, Rosemary. Much nicer than sharks! That fabric is beautiful!! And I just love Lilly and hope you can share pictures of you and hubby taking her for her maiden voyage.

                  Dorothy,
Your quilt inspires me to get better at free motion on my domestic machine, as well as my longarm! Awesome work. Does your machine have the BSR on it? I don't know which models have that feature. However, you still did a great job with or without it on executing the designs. Way to go!
May God bless the work of your hands,
                  Luann

Dorothy, your applique and quilting are beautiful!

Rosemary, your DH did a fabulous job constructing the canoe. It looks like a work of art. you both should be very proud. I am so glad you showed a close up of your quilt. After the shark comment I looked and thought "well maybe". Not a shark fan after close encounters during my surfing days in my youth. :woohoo:

About the BSR. Four years ago when I discovered free motion sewing I thought I needed a machine that had a BSR on it. The Bernina 440 QE machine was the best advertised at the time. I did not know other machines had it since the only dealer in my area sold Bernina's. I love my machine however it was not long before I stopped using the BSR foot to freemotion sew. I feel like I maneuver more freely without it. When I got my Baby Lock Tiara I did not get the BSR with it. Practice is the secret to success.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments I don't have a BSR I used one at the Bernina shop, but they don't have it for my machine, so I just did it anyway
Rosemary the canoe is awesome, and the sharks look much better as birds lol!

Dorothy, Your quilt is lovely. I'd say you've learned quite a lot in 2 years time. You should be pleased. What an accomplishment!

Rosemary, Picts of the maiden voyage would be great, but I'd also like to see some of the construction process. Draping, canning & whatever else was involved. Great project!
