    Terrie
Whatever is decided I'm very ok with. The waiting for a monthly installment gives me something to anticipate, but I'm liking the fabrics I chose so much that I'm anxious to play with them. If I do all clues, what is the finished size of the top going to come out to? Or, is that a mystery too?
Like I said, any way you want to do it, is fine with me

      Hi Luann,
I believe the first month's instructions tell you the finished size if you do all the steps. Somewhere around 91" X 91"

      Coming soon....

Terrie, we are ready here whenever you are. I realize you are busy too. My daughter is keeping up fine. I have not seen the last month in person, but she showed me a picture on her phone. It is pretty too. I did tell you she shopped for her fabric in my stash, so of course I would like it. I will make sure I get a picture when she finishes the November clue.

I've sent out the Clue for November. B) Don't hesitate to ask any questions. I think it's straightforward. I hope you think so too.

Turn back the clocks tonight, so one more hour of sleep! Yay!

Downloaded, or rather uploaded to my dropbox so i can get at it whenever i find the time, as you know my november is all a bit hectic, but chrristmas will come and with it hopefully some sewing 'reclusion' - yes i intend to become a recluse for the holidays and sew.

We did the clock thing last weekend and are already almost used to it.. Enjoy that extra hour.

Well, you know I had a head start, but here's Clue #3 ( on my ironing board, which needs a new cover!)

              Comment

Terrie, my ironing board cover looks a lot like yours. The new cover I bought a year ago is still in the package. I guess I'm not in any hurry to having it look old too. That's a lot of quilt blocks! They look great.

Lotti, I got to enjoy that extra hour twice. I remembered to change the clocks at my country home, but came back to the city yesterday and forgot all about it. This morning I looked at my watch at 9:15 but was sure it was after 10:00 on the wall clock, then it dawned on me that I'd forgotten to change the clocks. The only hint that I didn't catch yesterday was a glimpse of the clock on my computer that was later than the time on my watch when I checked the time a little later. Of course that means I went to bed an hour earlier because my alarm clock was still on the old time too, and got up an hour earlier. I ended up using that extra hour watching Fixer Upper on HGTV. Now I need to quit procrastinating and get some bookkeeping done.

                  Terrie, looking great.

Good for you, Annis, glad you got another hour just for you!
One of the main clocks at our train stations was still at summer time for a whole week - caused a bit of confusion - no idea how they managed to get that wrong - but i loved seeing it happily running away on us an hour ahead of time :P :silly: :P

Ok, I finished my November blocks yesterday. They came out nice. I used several different pinks, whites and blacks.

Since I have made 356 square within a square/economy blocks, (side note: I was going to exaggerate here but realized the truth is crazy enough!) I found that trimming the blocks after the first and second round of triangles makes everything come out better. I trimmed the first round to 3 3/8" square and the second round to 4 1/2" square. Be careful to take some off all 4 edges so your square is actually in the center! Or, just foundation piece them like Terrie suggested!

                    Here they are.

Now I'm onto a baby quilt for my new grandson due mid-January. Plus I've got lots of things to make for Christmas gifts....

                    Take care,

Love your colors, Geneva! Your empire does continue to grow, doesn't it? Enjoy!!

YES! Geneva is right. Snip the dog ears (I did that) and trim as she said. I just checked all my 'finished blocks and decided to measure them - they are all a wee bit big.

                        So sorry.

Guess I have to go back to the beginning... :S

I finished the first set of blocks. When I started I did not notice my needle was 2 clicks to the left.  When I measured with the first triangles on it measured 3 3/8 so I thought it would be okay. I put the needle in the center for the second set of triangles. I had to make a wider seam to get the points right. Now, my finished blocks are about 1/8 inch too small. I am not redoing them. I will just make them work. I will work on the second set of blocks tomorrow and see how that goes. Mine are starched very heavily. If I need too, I will wet them and stretch to 4 1/2 inches. I hope everyone is doing better than I am. Terrie, it is my fault, not your instructions.

Thanks ladies, and let's hope next month's clue won't have as much drama.

will be very surprised if i get my november squares even started in november...
rushing about getting ready for the medica - some of you might already know/remember that i work in a medical device company - we make ECG devices and various emergency monitors and defibrillators. next week we have our largest exhibition of the year - the medica - i'll be flying up to dusseldorf saturday morning to get our booth prepared - along with a lot of other folk. the booth builders have been building since end last week - saturday morning i got a message that they only have power on one part of the booth ... hmmmmm ok they can work with that over the weekend but will have to get it fixed on monday... first thing monday i got all the orders/registrations/invoices/payments sorted - all in order... then a phone call ... there's another booth that they want to build on part of our space !!! ?????????? a dinky little 12 square meter booth - in the middle of ours ????? WHATTTTTTT?
the way our registrations work is: schiller germany registers the main booth 245 square meters - two stories, one subsidiary registers a long booth accross the aisle; the other subsidiary registers the adjoining long booth so that we can make a large long bit which is divided into three parts: first the Ergometers - in the middle slightly hidden, the international lounge complete with kitchen and meeting room - adjoining to that the pulmonary testing devices. now the ergometer fellow (the newly appointed marketing manager - who is now longer there - lucky him - i would have murdered him yesterday), decided to only register the part that he actually uses - but never thought to tell anyone or ask why it was done differently in the past - he just sent me an information to say that all was registered as usual and confirmed - all OK (ha) when the exhibition management looked at the registrations they thought ??? hmmmm ??? why? so they called him - and he confirms that this is what we want!
this summer we finalized the plans - sent in all building plans for their approval - and the exhibition management actually approved everything... so last week they start building - but now they realized that they have sold a tiny bit in the middle to someone else...
been rotating since yesterday morning's phone call - the company that's in that little booth is from the US, IOWA - yeah - 7 hour time difference - and they're not the type to get to work at 7 am - but we found a solution - we found them a 20 square meter corner booth just around the corner - less than a fifty feet down the aisle - actually withing sight contact of where they were scheduled. now we have to get their approval that we can move them - sent them the new building plans (more space - slightly different arrangment with two open sides) and we're paying for all the additional cost plus any extra stuff they want in the booth to make it nice... i do so hope they can give me a straight YES shortly after 4 pm this afternoon (my time) - so that I can get the booth building folk organized to start with their new booth structure & refit the power supply and whatnot - because the people at the exhibition management leave at 5 pm on the dot... and my guys will need to continue with the building or we will not have the booths ready by noon on saturday to bring and install all the displays - we'll be working at that 'till sunday night ... yes - we are one of the largest exhibitors at this show - and yes we've been there for over 30 years - and had our booth location for more than 20 ... bascically the exhibition management could call up the poor little guy and tell them they have been moved - but we decided to do the right thing and keep everyone happy and not have anyone loose face ... so...
I'll now order some extra planst and flower decorations for our new neighbors :P

sorry folk - big rant - and not at all quilt related - but I'm glad i got it off - and now I can get back to work - will definitely not be finishing at 5 ... or 6 .... or 8 ...
if you held on this long... here a youtube link showing our medica booth from 2014 - if all goes well - this year will be almost identical (some different pictures - other devices - but the main structure and look remains the same.

time-lapse video of booth build-up (7 days) - exhibition (4 days we pack-up all display items in the evening of day 4) - booth dismantling (4 days) - as you can see - we're the first in - and the last out...
