During the show on from Katie Fowler's gorgeous Mandela quilts Ricky mentioned old fashioned spirographs. A free open source program for Windows, Linux and Mac called Inkscape has a plug-in that can make spirographs.
I played a lot with this feature last year and made designs for fabric I had printed and then digitised some of the designs to add to various projects which I used the fabric for.
This mosaic shows the covers I made for my machines. I had great fun during this adventure and a huge sense of accomplishment when I used the fabric I had designed myself and added the embroidery I had digitised myself too.
If you ever wanted to do something similar do give it a go.
