    Show 903 - Velda Newman

Quick question - for her "spit and fold" method couldn't you just use a pintuck foot? Wouldn't it be simpler, just sewing on the line or is it too small of a seam?

    Thanks!

In leafy Berkshire, south of England.

I think that the beauty of the "spit and tuck" method that Velda uses is that it doesn't require the use of a special foot, or special needle and supplies.
Pintucking is usually done with a double needle and the addition of cording to raise the area.

And I'm not sure how the last seam would look on Velda's leaf if you have all the extra bulk from the side veins.

My pin tuck foot does not use a cord. The simplicity of only using 1 foot is understandable. But for my talent of sewing an accurate quarter inch ... read, "no talent", sewing on a line is easier than trying to estimate such a tiny seam allowance. Guess I was just wondering if it could be an option ...

Using the pintuck foot would certainly be worth a try!

As for your 1/4" seam allowance, you might want to check out my video tutorial:
