    show 701

One of the things in my "job description" is to screen the shows and write up the resource guide. It always amazes me to watch the shows after the fact, because in the moment there are so many other considerations - I had forgotten Nancy's tip about creating the applique as a unit, then stitching it to the back ground - brilliant in my book! She was such a hoot and I really loved her quilts!

It was a great show, I really learned a lot about doing applique as units, then putting them on the background. Great show.

The show with Nancy Brown was great! Her quilts are amazing and I also love the borders that she frames them with! Thanks ARJJ for another great episode!

Another great show. I am continually amazed at the creativity in both design and techique of the quilt artists showcased on these videos. I don't do hand applique but her technique is simple in concept and construction. It really does say "try me!" I also really like the "on location" aspect of the video. Adds a bit of variety and interest.

what a great show. The only thing that would make it better is if the dog pattern that was demonstraded was available. I'd love to try it.

I enjoyed the show too! When I read the description of the show I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch it because my quilting is more traditional patterns. But I have found over my years as a member of The Quilt Show that with each show I learn so much and use it sooner or later, or it makes me think "what if I tried . . . . .?" My membership over the years is the best money I've ever spent for how very much I've learned and the fun I've had learning from everyone.

I don't do animal or portrait quilts but the tips Nancy gave can really apply to any type of applique. I really enjoyed this show and am looking forward to many, many more!!

I tried to see the show as a freebie... I have use restriction and had to wait until 2am to watch it.... I made it til 0205 THEN fell asleep. I am going to try again tonight after a long nap.

What I did see I liked so I will try again.

Wow! I just watched episode 701 with Nancy Brown. I think that this show ranks up there with episode 406 (David Taylor). I will definitely be looking forward to the DVDs for this series and I will look for Nancy's name in the future. I would love to take classes with her.

I took Nancy's class at Road to CA a couple of yrs. ago--she's a GREAT teacher and it's one of the best classes I've ever taken. I don't know if she sells patterns. In class, she gave each of us her basic pattern of a cat and we brought our own photos of our cat and made the appropriate changes to make it look like our own kitty. I don't do portrait quilts, either, but Nancy made this SO EASY that even I could do it! Her method of layering the applique before sewing it to the background could also be used to layer flowers, etc.

Wow--thanks for all of these kind words!!! I had sooo much fun filming the show with Alex and Ricky and everyone at TQS was so friendly and helpful. And to top it off I got to take George Clooney home with me! By the way, George and I both think that everyone should give hand applique a try!!!!

All these photo shows are coming at a perfect time. Neighbor wants a photo quilt as a gift for his wife. These shows are giving so much more information than the books I have read. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!

Nancy Brown rocks! Another one of those lightbulb moments when you realize you can do it too. Her technique is perfect!
