Show 413 and Rose's Drawing Technique

    I'm a bit stumped about Rose's technique.

First she creates a BW photocopy of her photo, then she outlines the basic shapes on the photocopy with a chalk marker, then . . . magically, she has an enlarged design on tracing paper!

What did I miss? How did she get from the chalk marker on a small photocopy to a full-sized drawing on tracing paper?

Can anyone tell me, please? I can imagine what she might do next, but have no idea what the chalk is for!

    Hi Anne.

She has a photo she has taken and she prints it out in black and white so she can see the shapes better. She then outlines those shapes in the chalk. She's not worried about colour or detail, just shape. She enlarges, by whatever method is available, just the chalk lines onto the tracing paper. The chalk just makes sure she knows which lines she has chosen on the photo to use on her quilt. She mentions OHP and grid system for enlargement.

    Hope this helps.

I can't remember what she said on the show, but I know that in her book there are patterns that you take to have enlarged where they have really big copiers.
