Show 313
Just finished watching the Jinny Beyer show for the first time (I'll be watching again!!) What a terrific show...she is such an inspiration, and it was wonderful to have a chance to see her home and hear some of the history behind it. Her quilting is absolutely incredible...it was priceless to hear her explanation of color choices....that alone was worth this year's price of admission to TQS!! She was a perfect choice for the TQS legend for this year...thanks so much, ARJJ, for taking us with you into her home and shop! NancyTags: None

What an inspirational show! Jinny Beyer was an inspiration to me as I started quilting in the early 80s (I thought it would be a cheap hobby since I could use my scrap fabrics  ). I had her "pallettes for patchwork" years ago, which at the time, consisted of LOTS of small solid color swathes that you blended from light to dark. That set was long since lost during a move but her color excercises were very helpful to me. I may consider the current set of swatches since they are bound and won't get lost.
I especially loved the way she took swatches away from the pallette as much as she added to them. Eliminating the main colors from the original pallette was a thought I would NEVER have considered! :!:
I will definitely rewatch this show.
thanks to Jinny, Ricky & Alex. This was great.

Jinny Beyer has been one of my quilting heroes since I began quilting. I went to her studio store and bought 3 kits. I've always been too intimidated to attempt any of them because my mindset has been to do them by machine. I think I'll give hand piecing another shot. After all, that's how I began quilting.

What a fantastic tribute to a true lady! I have been a devoted fan since the mid-80's when Jinny's fabrics became available. She is such an inspiration and a great teacher--so many quilters have learned more than they even know from her.
Thanks, TQS--this was a great show. I'm off to find my portable palette and see how my 2009 fabric selections really look.
And, by the way, Jinny's website is a wealth of information and many free patterns. http://www.jinnybeyer.com

I REALLY enjoyed this show!!!
Being relatively new to quilting (I joined the quilting renessaince ~25 to 30 years after Jinny!) it was really neat to get to know Jinny a little better! I have heard her name many times, saw her work in quilt mags and in Houston, but have never had the opportunity to take one of her classes or know the lady behind the famous name.
I am very appreciative of knowing how much she has done to develop the current art form that I enjoy today!
Thank you, Jinny and ARJJ!

What a great show. I really enjoyed getting to know Jinny Beyer. I am so new to quilting that I don't know many of the legends in quilting. Her color ideas are wonderful and I have bookmarked her web page and am hoping Santa leaves me a little cash in my stocking to spend there. Thanks again to Alex and Ricky and all the TQS staff for another great show. Sandi in FL

I finally had a chance to watch Jinny Beyer's quilt legend show. I met her in the early 90's when I was the workshop chairperson for our guild. She taught her color class and it was really wonderful. She was so gracious and such a lovely person--even when a total of 40 people showed up for the class!!! Ten people showed up at the door (didn't even belong to our guild) and begged to get in!!! We usually only signed up about 20 people for a class. I used the fabric swatches to make a small quilt--I still need to hand quilt it. I really enjoyed this show--Jinny is truly one of the best designers and quilters I've ever seen. Her home and gardens are to die for!!! Thank you TQS for the show--I know I'll watch it again. Judy in Torrance

Eileen, come visit with me and I'll work with you on the hand piecing. It would be fun.
Another wonderful show and more inspiration. Love the quilt garden and can imagine how it changes with the days, weeks and months passing by. It's great to see how Jinny got started and how that first quilt in India, with the unintentional shading made such an impact on what we do now.
