I have cut a stencil out of cardboard, and it is not something I would care to do again, as it is difficult to get nice smooth lines, and really tedious. If you wanted to you could use the interfacing idea and cut out all the lines and then place all the pieces back in place, thus relieving the necessity of drawing on the net with the sharpie, but you would need to cut out two mirror sets of patterns instead - swings & roundabouts, which is worse for you.

By indirection, Rosemary, you gave me an idea which might have potential I know a lot of people do not have a cutwork tool (I have one to use with my Bernina and understand that other sewing computer  makers have them too), but I'm thinking that I should be able to design a stencil in the Bernina V6 software and then use the cutwork tool to cut it out. Don't have time now to try it but just put it on my to do list. Does anyone see pitfalls to this method? Has anyone tried it already?

Took a little while but here is this little quilt top now. They always are so different when
sashed and bordered. I thought a red border but it overwhelmed so went dark... red binding prob'ly.

Thanks all !...I'm happy with the little quilt. Our smoke-y air is better today....but looking north across the
valley there is an ugly cloud of smoke on the horizon . The wind has changed today and it's not so bad....but
the fires are a long way from out.! Burning is the backcountry...will take rain and snow to put them out. We
had a short cool spell but now we are mid high 80s and 60 at nite. Wouldn't complain but for the smoke ! And
I'm getting tired of canning and freezing, etc.   On to the next UFO.

Dear Bob the Tech man, has tried to help me, so here goes another try to post my blocks - this picture, if it loads, is about two weeks ago. I am now almost finished the sashing. Here goes:....

Marilyn & Terri your quilts are looking wonderful - it is amazing how the different colourways change things up so much.
I'm glad that you have got your technical problems sorted too.
