Jeanie Sumrall-Ajero - Printing On Fabric Lessons
I think I'm going to try and learn Jeanie's method for printing on fabric. It looks like it's going to be very straightforward and I can do almost anything if they show me step-by-step. Anyone else out there going to give it a try? Have you already learned how to print on fabric?Tags: None

If you have any questions after watching the videos, feel free to post them here. I'll be sure to monitor this forum and answer any questions as best I can. I'm looking forward to seeing your printed creations!

Jeanie,
What perfect timing! My husband's mother passed away recently (his dad passed away 8 years ago) and I have been planning to make a memory quilt for he and his sister using a bunch of old family photos. Will you be covering how to get old photos onto the computer for this purpose? If not, can you recommend any resources on this topic for me to check out? Am really looking forward to your classes!

Sandy, I'll be talking about scanning photos in the second lesson and I'll give a tip for fixing faded photos using the scanner software. Hopefully I will give you enough information to at least get you started. But I won't go into detail about "restoring" old photos. That's a whole 'nother topic!
However, if this is something you're interested in, I highly recommend the website http://www.retouchpro.com. I essentially learned Photoshop from this site! They have tons of tutorials (http://retouchpro.com/tutorials/) as well as a forum (http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/) where you can ask for advice. I haven't been active there for a few years, but I always felt that people there were eager to help.
Hope that helps,

Pam7040 - Thanks for your kind words.
Mary Kay - Great question! You'll need a total of five different photos. The photos can be from your digital camera - or if they are older photos which are printed, I'll show you how to scan them. You'll also need 2 sheets of inkjet fabric for the project (plus 1-2 as "backup" - just in case something doesn't print correctly.) You can either use pretreated fabric sheets (I've been using EQ Printables Cotton Lawn lately) - or you can treat your own fabric with Bubble Jet Set and iron it onto freezer paper. (I mention Bubble Jet Set in the videos, but don't go into how to prepare the fabric. I just ran out of time!)
Oh - also, I'll be using Photoshop Elements (PSE) for a good portion of the videos because it runs on both PC's and Mac's - and it lets you print custom sizes for your photos. So you'll need PSE - any version starting with version 4. (My apologies to those of you with version 3 - I tried to be inclusive of that version, but it's missing a key feature that was added in version 4.) If you don't already have a copy of PSE, look for it on sale at your local electronics store - or even consider purchasing an older version. The current version is 8, but you can get version 7 for around $40 at Amazon.com. It would work just fine for what I'll be going over. If you are on a Mac, please make sure you get the Mac version! Also for Mac users, it looks like Adobe didn't make a Mac version for PSE 7 - just PSE 6 and PSE 8. One more thing (for everyone): Adobe tends to update Photoshop Elements once a year (in late Aug or Sept); I just don't want anyone to be surprised when they announce a new version in a few months.
Other than that, you'll need some additional fabric to complete the pillow. I'll include those supplies in the instructions (that I have yet to complete). They will be available in the "Projects" section on this site though. I recommend waiting until after you have printed your photos before you choose the rest of the fabric anyway. It's much to find fabric to match your prints than it is to make your prints match your fabric!
If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.__________________________________________________

Mary Kay - Yup, that's always the hardest part for me!
Margo - From the outset, I have tried my best to assume that my "audience" knows nothing and to give very basic, step-by-step instructions. Hopefully I succeeded, but if not please ask questions here in the forum and I'll make sure that everything is clear! I have to admit, when I started working on "how to print multiple photos on one sheet", there was one point when I said to myself, "This is ridiculous! No wonder no one can figure this out!" It took me a few hours, but I think I succeeded in finding a way to make the whole process straight forward and easy to remember!
