Auto Subscribe to forum threads

Is there a setting where we can have the "Subscribe" to thread automatically NOT checked? While I like knowing that there has been some activity on threads I have commented on, I don't want or need my inbox filled up with a notice every time someone posts on a thread, and I keep forgetting to uncheck the box before I hit send. Would be nice if we can select that to be off or on all the time, instead of ON all the time. I know it is easy to unsubscribe, but would like to not have to think about it every time I post on a thread.

First...mailmanldy...do you have a real name? Sure would be nice to use it, I think. Now ...have you tried
going into your profile, then clk preferences then clk Emails and notifications. There are a pile of
things there to chose..... maybe that will find what you're looking for.....Marilyn

Thank you Marilyn, I had looked in my Profile,but hadn't seen the preferences before... this new site does not make it easy to figure out where you need to go to make changes. B)
