I used to live in Houston and went every year. Since I moved away 10 years ago, I've been twice and didn't get to go this year. Couldn't believe that it had grown to take over the "whole" convention center. I was overwhelmed. My tip is wear the most comfortable shoes you own and try take a snack and a bottle of water.

I'm also interested in everyone's input because I'm definitely going next year. DH has already offered to stay home to look after Mom for me.

Because of my experience getting to know this great community of quilters here at TQS, I'll be going with a completely different perspective. And looking forward to meeting up for some fun with other members.

One question......How far in advance can you make hotel reservations near the venue and what price range can I expect? I know if you wait too long, they will be full.

    Thanks,
    Shirley

Be sure to take the most comfortable shoes you can find (Crocs are everywhere!) and bottled water. It's easy to forget to keep hydrated, and drinking the water will make your tote bag lighter!

Weather outside can be HOT and muggy, but inside (especially the classrooms) can be COLD, so take a sweater or light jacket.

You can get info about the shows and hotels at the IQA web site here:

Book hotels NOW! The close ones go quickly! And check with SnowPlow if you want to take your RV. She loved the site our friends recommended for her!

Plan to be tired at the end of the day! Walking standing looking talking can be more tiring than you think it will be!

Thanks, Lynn. I didn't know the hotels would let you book that far in advance, so I best get to it.

Do any TQS members work out sharing rooms?

The Hilton opens reservations Nov 10 at 9 am central and those discounted rooms go Fast. It's very convenient but pricey. Others can offer other hotel recommendations

As the last day of next year's Houston show is my birthday, I am going to treat myself and go for it! I am going to try to be one of the lucky ones to get a room at the Hilton, as it will be much easier for me with hubby!
