When you first go to forum (where all the categories are listed) there is a search button.

If you are referring to the "Search" between "Chat" and "Shop", yes, that was the one I meant as well. When clicked on, it presents options to Find a Member, a Quilt, a Shop or a Teacher. I don't see anything about searching the forum...

If you mean a different Search button, please tell my blonde little brain where it is LOL!

Honeycat...from the "Home" page or the "Blog" page, click on the "Forum" page in the long purple bar in the middle of your screen. When you get to THE FORUM PAGE, look in the white space below the long purple bar. You will see a place that says "search forum topics". If you click on that it will take you to a search page where you can search for the topic you are looking for.....
        GOOD LUCK!!!

O...M... G... ops: How very embarassing.

I don't know how I missed this (magnifying glass graphic and all!), but thank you so much for bearing with me and helping me out.

I think I stand vindicated I looked through the posting categories on this web page and noted that some categories do not even have post... this message board is too hard to use. Too cumbersome.

I find this forum really easy to use. I, too, always click on the view posts since last visit. I belong to a Yahoo group and that one is so much more difficult to follow and to reply to. I come to this web site several times a day to see what's new

Come on, everybody, give this board a chance to develop and settle. It's still in its infancy. Bob, the computer wizard is doing a great job, and I'm sure that after a while he, Alex, Lilo, and Ricky will look at the forums, and the statistics. It will then become obvious which subjects could be amalgamated in order to go through it quicker.

Personally, I think it's brilliant that I can see at a glance where new messages have been posted since my last visit (those orange bell shapes), and that I can go straight to the end of a thread without having to wade through all the old messages.

And then there is the bonus of ticking the 'Notify.....' box, so that it's really easy to keep in touch with those topics you are interested in.

Still being in the first year, I think we have to have patience for all the details to be fine tuned. I'm sure major changes to the site take lots of time and research. We've been given countless oportunities and so many choices from TQS.....and I think it was better to give us too many choices from the beginning, and then eliminate the ones not used frequently.

Since the forums started, I have used them daily and find it very easy to choose which posts I'm interested in (actually, that would be every word of every post ). But if I wanted to pick and choose, then it's no problem to do so.

I guess it's hard for me to worry about "too many forum topics" when there are so many other great parts of the site to enjoy.

I honestly don't understand what's 'hard to use' here. If there are no posts or you are not interested in the topics you just scroll past. With the best will in the world I can't call that 'cumbersome'. And I'm not a computer geek. I'm middle-aged and have to run to my son for help all the time.

I like the button that allows me to check what has been posted since I last visited-- makes it easy to keep up!

I am not computer savvy but this site makes it so easy for me, I feel like I am. And, if I have a question, one of these lovely people will help me--what more can you ask for?

I BEG YOU...... please reduce the number of the categories. The board is getting to clumsy and becoming harder to navigate through the postings.

I just find it hard to navigate through all the different topics.... too divided .....most of the topics are overlapping.... I think it would be easier to find people to connect with if the topics were more general in nature.
