    Mystery Quilt by Kathy Johnson

Here is a spot to post your photos of the Mystery Quilt that I hosted. I would love to see photos of the finished tops. I will start by placing my quilt here. You can post any comments that you would like about the mystery here.

    Happy Quilting,
    Kathy

I see that we can't post photos here, whoops! So you can either post photos in the blog section or you can put the photo into your profile and let us know it is there.

How about in the show and tell area?

Yes you can post photos here. Use the Img* to insert the image URL. I store many of my digital photos/images of my quilty stuff on FLICKR, so I just use the URL of the thumbnail sized image from FLICKR. Here's an example:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nphinstl/1858812826/" title="December Optional Block (Amish Dahlia Star) by NancyinSTL, on Flickr"><img></a>

Modified to link image back to FLICKR as required by FLICKR community guidelines.

Well, I checked out the show and tell area, but I don't see where I can start a new topic. It looks like these are ones that are started but Ricky and Alex and the crew. The IMG is great idea, if you have your photos in the correct spot. I am not sure how to get them posted. What are the exact steps for doing that?

Hee hee! I'm here -- I was just busy blogging! If you have a Webshots or Flickr account, you can post thumbnail versions of your pictures here in the forum. Here's a link to another post in the forum by Linda explaining it....

              forum/index

If you have Webshots, just find the photo you want to post then click on "Link to It" in the box to the right of the photo. Choose the third option "post in a forum" and just copy that URL and paste it in your post!

When the viewer clicks on the thumbnail photo they will be taken to the larger version in Webshots.

Gee... I need to get a magnifying glass for my computer in order to see the thumbnails...

Hee don't you just love technology?

OK! This will work!! And clicking on the thumbnail does take viewers to a larger photo! WHOO-HOO!

I really like having the pictures right in the forum threads, but a recent query to GuruBob said that we can't do a copy/paste here, but have to do it the way Bridget explained. THANK YOU BRIDGET!!!

The main problem I see with this is that not everyone has a Webshots or Flicker account with pictures posted. I guess if they are interested, they will get one set up?

For now....Kathy's group can post their pictures here, but maybe if you ask John or Bob, a special SHOW & TELL page might be able to be set up if you have enough interest?

                      You're welcome!

A Show & Tell spot would be a great idea but this way could work too. (And if anyone is interested in Webshots, it is free to create an account and I've always found them very easy to use.) But even though we're able to post these here, I'm unsure if ARJJ wants us to. I believe Ricky at one time said the issue was with available bandwidth. If any of the powers that be are reading could you please chime in and let us know if this is acceptable? I'll send an email as well.

I don't have one of those accounts right now, but could set up one if needed. I am not finished with mine, got a few more blocks to finish up and then sew rows. Sandi in FL

Bridget, I think that with all the changes being made on the web site the bandwidth issue isn't there now. I sent an e-mail to GuruBob asking how to post photos on the forum and he replied that we should do it the way you described, except that he said he didn't have time to tell me how to do it!!! I figured that if Bob has directed me to import photos from another web site, it's got to be OK!

I think another earlier issue was that Ricky didn't want members straying to other web sites. He wanted us to stay here on TQS. But IMHO, sharing websites is part of what makes TQS great, and that by others sharing word of TQS is spreading to the other sites. I think it's a good thing and working just fine.

                              Hi everyone,

I can't wait to see photos of some of the mysterys It is always interesting to see what different colors choices do to a pattern. It is especially fun with mysterys because the participants haven't already seen the finished product to influence their choices.

It is a full day of open sewing today at my LQS. I am not working there today so I can just go and have fun sewing with everyone. Now to decide which projects to take!

                              Happy Quilting,
                              Kathy
