    Thanks Rob and Sharon,
    will start using the Schmetz needles then. I didn't even know Janome sold own brand threads. Never seen it anywhere. My dealer carries a few Janome needles but a department store in the city has a big selection because they sell starter sewing machines so guess they buy everything from Janome (not their thread though but that could be because it is not available here in UK).
    I hadn't observed that the cutting blade could be moved - will look again tonight.

      Just giggle the blade and it will most likely realign

      I sucked my blade out if my Pfaff a few times.

      Yes Janome has its own thread. But is not available in Europe. I prefer Mettler thread

      Also needles. Schmitz are excellent as are Organ. You can also use newer Singer Needles as they are made by Groz Beckertt.

      The 9400 is an amazing machine. Enjoy it.
